datzenmike
'69 is the first and only year for the L521. The '70 and on were PL521. Picture posting... http://community.ratsun.net/topic/691-how-to-post-pictures-and-keep-online-photo-albums/ Won't shut off.... Have you replaced the alternator recently???? 1 Quote Link to comment

tr8er
Cause you have a weber carb without a cutoff solenoid and your timing is a tad advanced. Just a guess. Welcome 1 Quote Link to comment

El chino
And I thought I had a weber but after taking it of I found out it was a solex carb and I'm planing on replacing it with a weber which one would be the one to buy for the truck 1 Quote Link to comment

Just a guess. Welcome True if he has 'run on' or dieseling. He says he has to disconnect the coil. Well the coil shouldn't be working with the ignition in the off position. So what would keep the coil firing? An internally regulated alternator replacing the external regulated alternator could. Possibly a faulty regulator. And I thought I had a weber but after taking it of I found out it was a solex carb and I'm planing on replacing it with a weber which one would be the one to buy for the truck You have a tiny J13 engine don't go putting too big a carb on it. It will not run better and in fact will be more work to drive. If the carb on it works jut run with it. 1 Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
No it has an l16 on it Then it's a '70 PL521. I think the build date is on the driver's door jam. July '69 to June of '70 would make it a 70 model year. DMV did silly things back then when registering them but you should have a '70. Check the engine tag under the hood prop? Car number should be 180071 or higher. Mr. Tanker can you confirm this is a '70 or newer. Looks like the marker lamps wre shaved. 2 Quote Link to comment
El chino
Thanks and yes I did shave the side markers and bed hooks I was just going for a cleaner look on it and how rare is the a/c on the 521 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Wasn't a factory option, possibly added by the dealer before sale. Most likely it was added by a previous owner. Still a 'cool' addition. 2 Quote Link to comment
El chino
Oo okay I thought it was original 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Well I did say the dealer may have added it. It might be totally after market as well. Wayno? 1 Quote Link to comment
wayno
Well I did say the dealer may have added it. It might be totally after market as well. Wayno? I don't know about A/C, I heard that it was a dealer option, and since I heard it on here(Ratsun), that would be hearsay. 4 Quote Link to comment

wayno
That looks like all the dealer option/aftermarket A/C setups that I have seen photos of, although I have never seen one for a 521, the ones I have seen are for the 510. Quote Link to comment
