cjzeppy
Hey gang I've owned my 521 for about a month, and I haven't done much with the truck. I've been starting her up to show friends and family, but I'm starting to notice an issue with the fuel pump. It has an aftermarket electric fuel pump, and it seems to be working so well that it drowns the engine. I wanted to ask what some of you have done to regulate or somehow control the fuel pump from dumping to much fuel into the engine. Thanks, Chad Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
An in-line fuel pressure regulator Quote Link to comment
cjzeppy
An in-line fuel pressure regulator correct. I'll snap a picture this morning. Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
Be careful of the cheap inline regulators. They also restrict fuel flow. Try a good regulator like this one from Holley. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/hly-12-804/overview/ Quote Link to comment
DanielC
I really do not think restricting the fuel flow slightly should be a problem with a J-13. 1 Quote Link to comment
datsunrides
Or just replace it with a low pressure pump. I have a 3psi pump on my J13 with no issue. No regulator required. Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
I really do not think restricting the fuel flow slightly should be a problem with a J-13. You're right. I build cars and trucks for a living so I need to always offer the best advice possible to my customers. In this case though, the Holley regulator is only $29, so I would still stick to my recommendation. Quote Link to comment
cjzeppy
Thanks gang I'm going through Summit's page and getting a new fuel filter, regulator, and some fittings. Also need a return line to the makeshift gas tank (a 3 gallon gas jug that I did not put on the truck). Quote Link to comment
