Dat Lurka
I think his name is Bill Gardner. And he might have passed away in 2011. But the PO is mailing me a file full of all the papers and receipts that were given to him when he received the car  Quote Link to comment
Dat Lurka
I pulled the wheels and drums off and didn't find anything out of the ordinary. I can turn the axle and can feel a bit of resistance at one point of the rotation (besides the brakes, both sides) Maybe a stripped gear in the diff. I've never worked on a differential before. There is no plate on the back or point of inspection besides looking through the plug holes. What do? Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
What makes you think it stripped a gear in the diff? Does it not move forward when you try to drive it? A bit of whine is very common, it comes from running with the gear oil low sometime in the past. Keep the level topped up and it will last forever. The whine won't go away but it won't get worse. Dat Lurka
It's more than a bit of whine. I'm hoping for something like axle bearings. Seem a real bitch to replace though. Quote Link to comment
Dat Lurka
First tank, 27 mpg  Checked carb. Mixture screw 12 turns out. Running at 2 1/2 out now 40 miles at 1/8th tank. Quote Link to comment
0r0B210
Are you running on the rich or lean setting for the e-choke? I am 8.25 turns out on the rich setting. Also is your distributor advanced or retarded? Quote Link to comment
Dat Lurka
Carb has a lot of leaks and a couple stripped upper body screws. I'm going to rebuild the spare. Quote Link to comment

Dat Lurka
Started working on the paint again and gave up when I realized it wasn't worth the time. So 20$ and 2 hours later- Quote Link to comment
Raggleflaggle
Nahman. I liked dat red. Y U KILL DA RED? 1 Quote Link to comment
Dat Lurka
Got tired of riding around with crappy paint. The fenders were replacements and the red was peeling off. I had to do something to cover up the rust spots. This is the color I want Also, I used rustoleum double coat and it was the best ever. Took two cans to do the car. Quote Link to comment
Raggleflaggle
No question on workmanship, I just really dig weathered paint. I would say I like that green, but I'm partial to dark blue myself. Quote Link to comment
Dat Lurka
Blue is nice. Saving up for this one http://charlotte.craigslist.org/cto/4550952438.html Would be good to store for parts or fix up for my lady (auto transmission) What part of VA are you in? Quote Link to comment
Kirden
That green may have been my Bs original green. What is the color code? That blue one looks rough, would make a great rat but I would be scared to see what kind of rust it's hiding. However... I want that passenger fender  Here is a shot for color comparison. It's similar: Quote Link to comment

Dat Lurka
Got the goods! Folder full of receipts etc. The PPO bought the car in '93 and in October '94 it was restored. Huge list of goodies. Nissan reman A14 was swapped in at 234k so in total it's at ~340k miles. Oil changes 3-5k miles. The list is pretty long. I'll probably scan it in tomorrow. Hoping to get it back up to par by Oct '14. Quote Link to comment
Dat Lurka
A short ride on one of my favorite roads coming back from a delivery in the rain. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=539437049518284&l=4143060939059198434 Quote Link to comment
Dat Lurka
Last week, got some parts in from rockauto. Ignition components, shock absorbers, and wiper blades. Got a nice hot spark and a lot less skip. Ride is pretty stiff now and have gained a lot of control. No more bouncy house and bottoming out. First time changing shocks before. Don't know how I've managed to miss out in the past. Was a piece of cake! Crawled under the front to take a look at the transmission etc. still trying to source the noise. This fucker: took a WHILE! Accumulated a pile of tools in the process. But of course, when I finally get it out, it's full of good clean dope :) Fun times.. Hmm something isn't right here... Exhaust leak located :fu: I'm gonna scrap the cat and go buy some pipe and a glasspack. Went for a test cruise and saw this beauty downtown. PRISTINE I dare say. The last of a great era. Most definitely under 100k miles. Quote Link to comment
Dat Lurka
Today was the day I pulled the carb to investigate some leaks I was damn sure I would find. No pics, sorry  Was a breeze (besides that rear passenger corner base nut, It shall have it's own meme, and I shall invest in a stubby wrench) Got all set up on the porch and dug around till I found that NOS carb kit. . I broke open the carb and found shredded soggy gaskets, leaking pumps, etc. It looked as if a very small crazy person smeared greasy feces all over the place. Turns out the kit had been opened and was possibly for a different carb or contained parts for multiples models at some point. I used what I could till I realized the choke body gasket was not going to work. It was leaking between the float bowl and numero uno. So hell I decided to try again. My small town parts store happened to have a rebuild kit in stock. 25 freakin dollars. Tore it down and put it all back together again. Ended up using some parts from my spare carb. \ Practice makes perfect! Like the time I put my L20b together with the cam 180º out  trying to figure out why I had no fuel till I realized I was sucking through the exhaust and blowing out the carb. But hey, it only took an hour and a half to tear it back down and put it back together correctly and drive it home! I have a pretty good understanding of this teeny hitachi son of a bitch now. Anyways, it's running like a top. Starts up and idles so smooth and quiet I can't even tell it's running! Still needs a tune up. Pulled and capped some vacuum devices till I can get some hose and another day of datto driven patience. It get's a little weird under power. Might have broken some dirt loose but didn't get it out of there. Note: Averaging 27 mpg city and that's not putting around. B) Fresh tank with the ignition and carb work and hoping for 30+ (but the gravel is oh so fun) 1 Quote Link to comment
Dat Lurka
Not enough love in here. These cars look fantastic in white 1 Quote Link to comment
Kirden
That looks pretty amazing. I'm not a fan of white though due to the fact that it makes imperfections stand out. Black is the same way. However, if you were able to have the body perfect, that would be amazing. Just wondering, do you plan to keep the park benches? They really don't look bad imo with your current color. I think that is the first B210 I've seen where I wouldn't mind keeping the benches. I think it's the way is it framed in black by the grill and fenders. I think I'm going to try it on my 4dr and see if I like it  Quote Link to comment
Dat Lurka
Yeah I'm keeping them. I'd like to put the pretty ones on but It's my daily driver and I'm in constant danger in a city full of half wit college kids and very old people who do not need to be driving. The bumpers are definitely functional  Quote Link to comment
Dat Lurka
After more than a dozen close calls this year I finally nail a damn deer. Hopefully I won't have to fight too hard with the insurance. Quote Link to comment
