how can I tell if a 610 is a sss or base?

If it was sold in the USA, it is a base. That's all you need to know.

 

Edit: Below post by ggzilla is correct, they are all DX models, not base.

USA models were DX (Deluxe) models not base models.

 

In Japan the 610 came in four trim versions:

* STD

* DX

* GL

* SSS

Coupe Six-Light was all 1973 and 1974 model year USA coupes.

 

This style was used in Japan for all coupes, regardless of year. Later coupes used a slightly different lens.

 

USA sedans used this. 1975-1976 USA coupes used similar/same taillights (1975 model year started Sep 1974)

This style was used on GL sedans in Japan. JDM STD sedans came with 6-light tailights.

Yes, 1973-1974 looks better, and the the whole car not only the tail lights.

Belonged to the member "Compression" here. It was heavily modified, and a beautiful example of a 610. If you think that was alot, you should see what it was sold for in more recent times..

Yes, this is the 610 SSS from Australia. Like the Japan-market, the sedans never received the Coupe taillights.

JDM 610 SSS used same taillights as GL, though the finisher panel between the lights is different
