Datsun620longbed
So I'm kind of a noob when it comes to auto mechanics, so my issue is my 1977 datsun 620 longbed with a L20B engine. It starts up good but doesn't want to keep running. It just sputters out and dies. I originally thought it was the fuel pump but that wasn't it and I think it's a carburetor issue just want some advice from you guys considering it's my first car just let me know what you think. datzenmike
To do this in two days seems like something happened suddenly. Free and easy... Check all small vacuum lines on or near the carburetor and air filter. Look for one that's off and not connected or with a crack or split in it. Check ignition wires Free and some work if you have tools... Check set the valve lash Clean plugs Set timing to 12 degrees BTDC Adjust idle mixtere and speed Quote Link to comment

ggzilla
My hitachis love 10% ethanol. If you have a Weber you may need to take it off and rinse the fuel bowl out If you have the Hitachi just remove the drain plugs, let it drain. Quote Link to comment

abbylind
Had the same problem with my 77. Found the rubber fuel lines by the carb were cracked. Fell apart when I removed them. Replaced the fuel lines all the way past the fuel filter. Shot some carb cleaner in the carb and checked all the screws on the carb (they were loose) Runnin like a scalded dog now....
