Giantsfan98
I need help deciding which direction I wanna go sbc or sr20det I'm doing a complete resto I'm looking for power but also what do u think would do better over all it's for a 75 620 Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
A complete restoration will keep the L20B. If you want a modified 620, then put whatever engine you want. I wouldn't put the small 2-liter or the big V8. Put a KA24 turbo in it. 2 Quote Link to comment
Giantsfan98
Ok sorry bout that I meant a ground up build and will the ka24 give me a lot of power 1 Quote Link to comment
Giantsfan98
I still wanna see what other people think of the 350 Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Will a 2.4 turbo built from the ground up give lot of power? Is 400 HP a lot? 350 engine is interesting. And its all Nissan too. They have a great sound. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Here's a Nissan 350 engine in a 620 5 Quote Link to comment

datsunfreak
350 engine is interesting. And its all Nissan too. They have a great sound. He means a small block Chevy 350 V8. That is not keeping it "all Nissan". ;) Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Thanks man that's a great website but could u tell me how much it would cost to build a400hp ka Depends. Want to make it once? Or every day? That isn't an easily answered question, but figure at least $5k to do it "right". Or about double what you could do a basic SBC swap for... But I'd say just about any option you take to make an honest, reliable 400hp is going to be the in the $5-7k range. Good, fast, or cheap. Pick two. 2 Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Hmmm ... if I was going SBC from the ground up I'd at least go with a 400. Why go with a small one, they weigh just as much. Or just buy a 400hp crate engine new from Chevy $6840 http://www.chevrolet.com/performance/crate-engines/circle-track-ct-350-400.html 1 Quote Link to comment
Giantsfan98
I'm looking at about 3grand for engine budget and I'm quite familiar with sbc engines I was just wondering what u guys thought would be the best Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
I'm looking at about 3grand for engine budget and I'm quite familiar with sbc engines I was just wondering what u guys thought would be the best For that budget, find a good stock 350, get a new carb and aluminum intake, TH350 trans, spend the other $1000 on a good radiator and incidentals. You will not build a 400hp anything for that much, IMO. Now if you're good with wiring, an LS engine might get you there if you step your budget up a wee bit... Quote Link to comment

datsunfreak
You can make a solid 340hp with the 5.3L (or 370hp with the 6.0L) Silverado engines... Quote Link to comment
Giantsfan98
I might i have always loved a Ls engines il have to see if I can fit it in my budget I m kinda wanting to turbo whatever I use which I think would be worth the extra money Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Then put in the KA24DE for a shade over $2k. Then later when you have more money add a turbo. B) Quote Link to comment
Giantsfan98
I also like the idea of the 6.0l Il have to do some research I still wanna put a turbo on whatever I use Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Just don't put a V8 in. Most if us think its a bad idea. Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
As long as you finish it, I think it's a fine idea. ^_^ I hate abandoned, unfinished projects like the plague that they are. Unless I'm buying them on the cheap. 1 Quote Link to comment
TENDRIL
if you want "fun" power , go turbo ka or SR, sbc are great for sound, looks, burnouts and really fun in a straight line if you do decide to go v8 just finish it and you will get the same amount of awww Quote Link to comment
Giantsfan98
I really do wanna go v8. Now I'm gonna research a lot more before any decisions r made and I'm not a quitter once I start something I go all out till its done Quote Link to comment
