Steroid
This week I purchased a 1969 "ham can" trailer. As most of You know these have become quite the rage in the vintage car/truck hobby. I saw it sitting beside the road at a "wheeler dealer's" house. This guy is always selling something. It was only an hour or so before dark so I had limited time to really check it out like I would have liked to but it seemed pretty clean for being 45 years old. In a way, without looking underneath it, I basically took a chance on it. Here is the purchase this morning prior to a full cleaning: It has been identifed as a 1969 Spotty. Here is an almost identical twin: http://www.nationalserroscotty.org/rebuilds/hughR/index.html 7 Quote Link to comment

Steroid
Last Sunday Robbie Klima came over and totally accessed the propane system and wiring. The pilots lit and there were no issues ! Now We can camp safely without worrying about an unsafe situation. THANKS ROBBIE ! ! In looking underneath I found an unsafe situation though. When the frame was built in 1969 only two welds were made on each spring perch. One on the front and one on the rear. The left front spring perch had cracked both welds and it was "fixed" with, get this, a muffler clamp (see 3rd photo in first post. The clamps nuts are visable to the left side of the tire) ! ! Mark removed the perch and what sounds like an easy, quick welding job naturally ended up being 3 hours ! ! We had to properly align the spring and Mark had to grind down the old welds. He then welded new welds along the sides of the perches. Why it was not done that way at the factory is a mystery to Us. Now all is safe for hitting the open road ! ! THANKS MARK ! ! After cleaning up it was time for lunch and a photoshoot at, where else, LAZY HARRY'S ! ! ! 2 Quote Link to comment
