datzenmike
Probably a hand held 'thingy' they often double post. Your description suggest it runs but you have trouble keeping it running? If running it must have spark. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
The ignition modules almost never go bad. The 22-step test procedures with flowcharts a diagrams are in the factory service manual. Quote Link to comment

DanielC
In this picture, you can hopefully see how the EI (matchbox) distributor is wired up. In this video, I hooked up a coil, a matchbox distributor, and a battery. I have a handy little spark tester, it is the thing plugged into the coil center terminal. The gap is adjusted about 1/2 inch. Maybe the wiring of the test circuit needs some explanation. Battery negative is connected to the body of the distributor, and the ground clamp on the spark tester. The other end of the spark tester goes into the high voltage out of the coil. Battery positive goes to coil positive, AND the "B" terminal on the matchbox. Coil negative hooks up to the "C" terminal of the matchbox. If you turn the matchbox rotor, you should get strong sparks, just like my short video. Quote Link to comment
