1968 Datsun 510 down pipe gasket

Question to our in house 510 experts.

There seems to be difference on 1968 Datsun 510 exhaust down pipe manifold and gasket.

I ordered 3 different brands (felpro, Victor Reinz and .....) none of them fit correctly.

I'm pretty sure it's factory manifold.

Anyone here has dealt with this issue or has the correct part number for gasket (down pipe)?

Both Rock Auto and AGC Supply have the same Felpro part number for 68-73.

I don't think they are different, but it has been a long time since I have seen a stock 68.

It is slightly different.

Will post the picture later so everyone can see.

We believe you now!  What does the manifold look like?  And out of curiousity, what's the diameter of those pipes?

How about buying some material, and making your own?

I think I'd take that Felpro gasket you have, cut it in half length wise, and slide it back in to shape to fit the flange.  Then tape it together and use it for a template on some fresh material... You might have to get a little more creative to get the pipe holes traced right, but the outside shape, and stud holes should be good for the start of the template.

This is factory manifold

There has to be someone here that has correct part number.

Felpro and other brands only carries 70-73 gasket, even though it's listed as 68-73

Will try Nissan but they would be scratching their head if I said use Micro fiche to look up the part number.

That looks like the gasket between the exhaust manifold and the "through the fender" extension of the RL411! I cludged mine by cutting and fitting two 510 gaskets.

Most of the Datsun collector looks similar with those 2 round holes and 3 bolts to secure it.

But differs slightly with spacing and size of exhaust passage.

Are you using Part number  20711-21001  or  20691-A0880

If so, will order it for RL411 instead

I'm just curious if there are any visual differences from the ones I've seen... Like if there is a way to tell them apart.

I'm guessing if that gasket was only used for one year, you will be S.O.L.  If it's the same as the RL411 you might get lucky, but it's not like there are a lot of parts for those either....  Keep us posted..
