New Floor Help

Recommended Posts

Hey all, need some advise & pics.

My floors are screwed (aren't they all). I need help build new ones.

I need to do inner rockers as well.

I'm open to pulling the cab if need be but I need pictures of what you've done.

I can take some shots of mine tonight to show what I'm working with if need be.

I was thinking body drop at the same time but am on the fence as I need to have an operating heater here up north.

Do you have a MIG welder?

Does the whole interior floor board need replaced, or just sections?

I myself have not done a body drop yet, but there are a few on here that documented doing it, so if you read their threads, most questions will be answered about that.

I have seen a heater box mounted/piped behind the bench seat in an NL320, obviously it doesn't work as a defroster back there, but it likely did put out heat.

Here is a link to one huge body drop.

This is a thread I have going on with 521 floor repair.

I am pretty sure the cab will have to be removed to completely weld in the new panel, and seam seal it.

I shot a couple pics tonight.

I have been looking at blackdeth666's build for the last year or so and every time I get a raging hardon. And that's just from the BEFORE pictures.

Daniel C, I've been following yours as well as the other 2 you posted. My biggest issue is it needs inner rockers as well as outers. I just don't know if I sould try to replace the inners or just overlap to come of the existing inner that's there.

Wayno, yes I have a mig and other equipment as well. Sure, I'm not as outfitted as some but probably more so than a lot of others.

Here's the drivers front cab mount I built assuming that's all I had to do only to find the inner rockers worse than I'd first thought.

As you can see, I've cut out the outer and inner (somewhat) rockers

I'm not scared of burning wire, just glad I do this for relaxation and not a FT job. Lol
As far as the rust-this is the rust freeist thing I think I've ever worked on.

I think I'm just gonna fix what I got, no body drop, and run the late 80's early 90's static drop I'm used to building from back in the day. Hell, I'm soo old I remember when 16's were a "big" wheel.

It's going to be my shop truck for my home shop "NEIDABIGGER Garage" in Botha, Ab
