CorAce
I did the Saturn alt swap last year in my dime. All and all it was a pretty strait forward install, and it seams to be functioning properly but for some reason the charge light is on very dimly. Has anyone run into this before? I’ve been pouring over the wiring schematics for the car and cant seem to fined any place I could have a fault except for in the Alt. Quote Link to comment
thisismatt
The light being on very dim is normal. There is current to the bulb during normal operation, positive from both ends. When the alt detects a failure it is supposed to ground its end of the field (charge light indicator) circuit, otherwise it is outputting 12v. Due to resistence in the system there may be an inequality across the bulb causing it to glow dimly Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
You may have to add a small diode in line.... follow the red wire with the CHARGE lamp on it. Quote Link to comment

Thats funny this is the drawing I used to install it originally. I don't know why I didn't see that the first time, or for that matter go back and check it. Thanks for your help.
