datsunmark
Picked this baby up back in October for $200 from my cousins garage. This is the first car I've ever owned. All the following pictures are the steps on the road to restoration This is how it was when i bought it First thing I did was remove the rusted out drivers side floor pan, and when i say rusted out I mean non existent Quote Link to comment

datsunmark
There were also large holes rusted through both front shock towers Quote Link to comment
datsunmark
Patched holes Quote Link to comment
datsunmark
Had to cut out rusted out sections of the rocker panel on driver side and make new pieces. These are aluminium prototypes Quote Link to comment
datsunmark
And these are the real deal Quote Link to comment
datsunmark
Then welded in new floor and strengthened cross braces which were slightly rusted as well And just when I thought I was good to go I investigated a little on the passenger side and ended up removing a good portion of the floor and rocker Quote Link to comment
datsunmark
Welded in yet another floor Quote Link to comment

datsunmark
At this point, we took the car in to get it safetied and surprisingly passed all structurally sound but with one brake pad a little worn down. So, my dad and I went out and bought some new pads and got the bloody thing safetied and road legal  Next came body work and I understate myself when I say there was much that needed to be done. The Datsun was an MPI writeoff due to a collision on the rear driver side quarter panel. In addition, just in front of the wheel well and just behind the wheel well were both rusted out and covered in a 1/2" thick coating of bondo that had to be removed and replaced. The wheel wells on both front fenders had to be repaired and the bottom third of the passenger side door just at the body line had to be replaced. Quote Link to comment
datsunmark
Interested in making some more rockers? I'm the farthest thing from professional at this I'd probably ruin what you're trying to fix. Quote Link to comment
datsunmark
And then came body filling and sanding the car for painting... I never thought I'd live to see the day where i could breathe out dust. Cheap dust masks suck Rear lower quarterpanel Passenger door And there were countless dents and scratches that also had to be filled Quote Link to comment
datsunmark
Ready to be painted! Drove it over to DMK Kustoms to get the job done. If you're anywhere near Winnipeg and you need a car done talk to them they're the best Quote Link to comment

graveltrapp
Nice score and good job knocking it out. any plans to do wheels and lower it a bit? I drove a B210 throughout High School and actually took my drivers test in it after skipping school one day. My parents had no idea I had my License for two weeks. Things have sure changed these days. Quote Link to comment
opalbeetle
I just met Mark and his dad tonight. Very cool guys. Great job on the car Mark! Saving Datsuns in Manitoba is a challenge to say the least. And you have one of the sweetest around. AWESOME! Good luck on the L20b swap! Quote Link to comment
datsunmark
Hey guys sorry its been a while. It's so awesome cruising around in it and having all that work appreciated and the car recognized for what it is haha. To answer your question graveltrapp yes I just got some minilites mounted and 185/60/14 slapped on those. Looks like gold hahaha just the way I dreamed. I'll post some pics when I get home (schools a pain sometimes) and I plan on doing that crazy strut chopping and whatnot sort of "coilovers" that datzenmike has a tutorial on. Not sure if anybody really knows what I'm talking about but I'll do that and get some lowering springs. I also plan on doing an l20b and standard transmission swap to give it a little more oomph.
