Does the cigarette lighter, engine trouble light or the 4 way flashers work??? They are on the same fuse. If none are working then replace the 10 amp fuse to the rear and the passenger side on the fuse box. It will have a Blue/White stripe wire coming from it.

Clean the clips that hold the fuse. Fuses are cheap so REPLACE it don't waste your time with a 43 year old one. It might 'look' ok but be lose inside or even intermittent.

Bet it's not a 4 door coupe.

Here are two good suggestions and starting points.

There will be no current until the Red/Blue wire has current.

R/B <> L/W

The Blue/White wire is from the Fuse Box.

Check all places for power.

If you have 12V at the Blue/white-stripe wire at the Fuse Box

But not 12V at the Red/black wire at the dome light ... then the wire is broken somewhere in between. This part of the circuit does not go through the door switch (only the ground wire goes through the door switch).

Easiest way to fix that is to run a brand new small-gauge wire (18 gauge) from the Fuse Box B/W connector up to the dome light. But then you need to remove the headliner to get it there.
