Hermistonkilla
Alright, picked this up from a fellow member last night. He did a ton of work on it so that I could take all the credit in the end! He had the engine in, mounts already mounted, trans done up, driveshaft cut and re welded, almost finished... A lot of you most likely saw it in the for sale section just waiting to be picked up and loved! After convincing him I had a good trade, (took some massaging to get him to agree) we met up and proceeded to load the truck and other miscellaneous parts into/on to my truck and trailer. In the deal I picked up redeyes mounts, can am wiring box, inline fuel pump, truck harness, ka harness, Ecu, etc... A ton of sweet stuff. My bestest friend in the whole world will be doing the wiring for me because I am a wuss and far to scared to try! What's left to do is put everything back together in the engine compartment and the cab. Then see if nick and I can knock out the wiring together. Hoping to be completed in about 2 months. I have a fair amount if free time so in shooting to be driving it quickly. Picture time How it looked this morning Did some cleaning and organizing of all the parts today. Hope to get a good bit more done tomorrow. I love it and am way pumped to get this truck moving in the same direction it's been going! 1 Quote Link to comment
Boom death
That truck is going to haul but when it's done lol keep up the progress 1 Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
You need to get another exhaust mani. The Frontier one wont clear for anything. OBX or get a S13/14 and do what Redeye did. Quote Link to comment
Hermistonkilla
I plan on getting an s13 one and having my local exhaust guy help me out. Once I saw the frontier one I knew they would never be together again. Quote Link to comment
Hermistonkilla
Couple pictures of the cross link not needing to be flipped using redeyes mounts on a truck ka. Wiring is a little different but I'm hoping icehouse can draw me up a diagram to go from! Quote Link to comment
chebetio510
looks like oil pan hits crossmember? Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
It does. I saw that when I looked at the truck. Quote Link to comment
Hermistonkilla
But........ I have some good clearance on the other!!! Gonna notch out the cross member a little and weld it back up. I'll have my machine shop guy weld it up as my welding skills are spotty and I want it to be nice. Laecaon- you live around tri cities? ]2eDeYe
Great pics, looks like a good start. Any pics of the frontier exhaust mani? Looks like you only need a little clearance work on that cross member. I recommend picking up a service manual for the frontier, it will help a ton with the wiring. Quote Link to comment
Hermistonkilla
No picks of the manifold right now, I'm off to Portland for a Halloween party this weekend. I'm going to pick up a manual for it and I've been pleading with icehouse to draw me up a diagram and he says he has wired 1 truck engine before. So fingers crossed on that!!! I might pick up a new uncut harness as this one is pretty stripped in sine places. The PO was going through it to clean it up to his liking, and I don't even know where to begin. (Wiring is my downfall) Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
No, I live on the other side of Portland from you... Redeye, the Frontier manifold has a CAT built into it. When I held the manifold up to the motor, The CAT hit the fire wall, and the manifold still needed to go back another inch. On top of that the manifold also hit the Torsion bar. It is a big ugly beast. Quote Link to comment
Hermistonkilla
Found an old picture of my dads truck from 79. My mom says she has some more from a couple shows that are better. We're going to look for them tonight. 3 Quote Link to comment

Hermistonkilla
Got a little bit if work completed today. took the cross member off and all it needed was some grinding done to it! Took off about a 1/4 inch and will be putting it on in the morning. Not pretty but with some dirt it will fit right in. Also put the brake master cylinder, clutch master, old wire harness, some relays and a few other small things back in. 1 Quote Link to comment
Hermistonkilla
Made a trip up to the PO's house and grabbed some parts that were forgotten. Also picked up some sanders that he was getting rid before his move to up north. Came home and put the crossmember on and pulled the power steering pump. Quote Link to comment
Hermistonkilla
Ya the stuff I know how to do will come together pretty quickly I hope. It's that ob2 harness that has me worried about wiring it in. Thing looks intimidating compared to the harness from 77 .... :-( Quote Link to comment
Eagle_Adam
excited to watch this build! Quote Link to comment
Hermistonkilla
Payday cannot come fast enough!!! Going to pick up new bushings for the cab, clutch master, some metal to make a pair of seat brackets, s13 exhaust manifold, vacuum house, hose clamps, egr block off plate, uhhh I know I'm forgetting a few things so hopefully this list helps! Put the door seals in and the trim piece that holds them in. Also put some elbow grease into a couple chrome pieces I have'. Quote Link to comment
Hermistonkilla
Starting on the wiring a little bit and discovered I have 4 black/pink wires!! Thought I had it figured out a little but then this happened!! Wish icehouse made a diagram for this engine! Haha has anyone ever wired a frontier engine up before? Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
When I was looking at the truck, I was the opposite way. I was confident I could get the wiring done, but anything else no so much. Quote Link to comment
Hermistonkilla
Well I would gladly send this harness out for someone to put it all together for me!!! sent icehouse a pm to see if was interested in doing it but havent heard back. Busy guy for sure Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
I think you will need to stop looking at wire colors, as I think they will all be different. What you should be doing, is start looking at what is required to get the S14 running by his diagrams, like what is the wire actually connected to on the ECU... Then you need to find the corresponding pin on the frontier ECU, and use that wire. I say S14 because it is a OBDII car. Quote Link to comment
Hermistonkilla
I know I need to quit being lazy and bust out the fsm I have for the frontier! Ok so I do have one question though....... May get laughed at but how do I count the pins in a Ecu? Quote Link to comment
