The only fender/trunk emblem i have is a US market "Datsun" emblem. See pictures below. There are 3 studs on the back side and they ae not spaced evenly. Looks like approximately 109mm and 102mm.

By the way these plastic chrome plated emblems are still available from Nissan in the USA. I believe they are about $32 USD retail cost. The part number is 63806-21300.

The outside distances from pin to pin are 106mm and 112mm and the approximate pin diameter is 3mm. I estimate the center to center is about 103mm and 109mm. Looks like my estimate on my first post was off by a little bit on one of the measurements.

Edit: When I conducted these measurements I used the top of the stud as a measuring point where the metal locking insert did not cover the stud. If one were to drill holes for these studs the hole would not be 3mm. The combined diameter of stud and locking metal sleeve is about 4mm.

I just confirmed the trunk emblem holes are about 4mm

Yes, someone drilled a couple of other random holes in this trunk lid. The three holes for the Datsun emblem were still there and measure about 4mm

I didn't realize the locking mechanism was on the pin itself... That must be new. I wonder when they switched to that method.

I'm not sure if it has been done that way for all PL510 vehicles or if it was a later model (I think 1970 to 1973) plastic emblem thing. I have not been able to get my hands on an early 68 to 69 metal emblem to confirm.

The method I have seen used on many cars is to use one of these press on tabs (I forget what they are called)

one more thing, the backside of the emblem mounting studs are not all aligned on the same plane. It appears the stud on the "D" is set a bit higher than the two other studs. It looks like about 4mm higher

We call these speed clips.

Thanks for your efforts with this.

I'll measure the datsun1600 fender badges I have today as the pin spacing looks similar to your Datsun emblems.

The original reason I asked was I have a Datsun emblem on my goon hatch and was wondering if it was the same as the American fender emblems.

Thanks again

Jason

went and checked to see and they are. The pins fit in my hatch and fender. As for speed nuts in the states, I'll post a pic of what I believe is what we call speed nuts.
