Tanner T
I have a 1969 datsun 510 4 door and i am having some troubles trying to figure out whats wrong. Whenever i turn my car to the right i hear a clunking/ clanking noise from the passanger side wheel well area; i know its not rubbing cuz i looked and everything its tight that i can see and feel. Whenever im going straight it doesnt make noise tho. Any help would be helpful! Quote Link to comment
Str8_69
Maybe a right rear CV? Quote Link to comment
moparvwfreak
my thoughts as well. if everything is tight, axle is the only thing it could be. Quote Link to comment
Dat Lurka
Does it do it when you're not moving? Control arm bushings Tie rod ends Not totally sure what it looks like under a 510. Get under there and check your rubbers. But more importantly we require pictures of your 510 Or else Quote Link to comment
Dat Lurka
As mentioned above front steering linkages..... it doesn't sound like life or death. So how about pics. Quote Link to comment
Tanner T
Maybe a right rear CV? I thought about that as a problem but the thing is it sounds like its coming from the front right, but i will take ur advice and look into that, thanks! Quote Link to comment
converted_to_datsun
Had a similar noise in my old celica. My cv axle was going out but that was front wheel drive... Also had similar noise from a completely blown strut before. It would clunk on turns where it was on the outside of the turn Quote Link to comment

Dat Lurka
510s have IRS? The more you know! I expect pics by this time tomorrow or I'll do something drastic That's plenty of time to think of something drastic. Quote Link to comment
Pacific coast Datsun
I say its the wheel bearings. Had the same issue on my wagon years ago. Go ahead & replace both inner & outer at the same time. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Check the lug nuts are tight. Worn tension rod bushing Sway bar bushing worn/loose missing. Idler arm worn/loose? Broken coil spring. Wheel bearing improper pre load. (loose) Quote Link to comment
