bonvo
is it me or does it seem one side draught wouldnt dump enough fuel for this Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Two sidedraft carbs flow about the same as one sidedraft carb. The reason is the manifolds only feed half the cylinders per carb. If you put two carbs on a full-plenum manifold, feeding all four cylinders, then you'd have double the flow. But I've never seen a sidedraft setup like that. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
On a mormally asperated motor the engine has to do all the work sucking the air through the carb. Up to a point a larger or multiple carbs will reduce the effort and there would be some gain. On a turbo, the turbo is doing all the work for the motor. You could have a carb the size of a garbage can, it still has to narrow down and pass through the turbo inlet. Quote Link to comment

But I've never seen a sidedraft setup like that. How about 2 SUs on a full plenum feeding a V8? It's called early Rolls Royce with the aluminum V8. The intake has a vertical extension with an SU hung on the opposite sides. Looks like an Edelbrock manifold with an aluminum Kleenex box stuffed down its throat. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
lol you spelled draft "draught" I thought he meant one draught beer wasn't enough.:D Surprisingly it's a British spelling for a word of the same meaning. Either works, draft is shorter. draught noun 1. a serving of drink (usually alcoholic) drawn from a keg; "they served beer on draft" [syn: draft] 2. a large and hurried swallow; "he finished it at a single gulp" [syn: gulp] 3. a current of air (usually coming into a chimney or room or vehicle) [syn: draft] 4. the act of moving a load by drawing or pulling [syn: draft] Quote Link to comment
