They are 99% aesthetic. They are used by the Bosozoku gangs of Japan as a identifier that they are infact boso. Normally they are hung from the rear bumper to show how low their vehicles are when it drags on the ground. Its the history on the current crowds "drift charms" where they hang little stuffed animal keychains and such from their rear bumpers or tow hooks. Some people like to replace their oh-shit handles with tsurikawa as well.

Ya those wont be annoying as fuck swinging into the glass constantly lol.

 

The prices are fair. I just picked up a current one (round) for a friend while in Japan and it was more like 50 bucks. Not counting my time or the travel to and from.

 

Just FYI for all purchasers if you mount this on the back of your ride and its not dragging your a poser :-)
