scottauch
Hi all, I have a trailer with a wrecked hub. The guy who sold it to me said it had been built with a solid datsun axle from a fwd vehicle. Can anyone confirm this for me? As you can see by the photos, the lug holes are completely worn and I need to replace the hub. Anyone know what model these might be from? I need to know a model for the parts guys... pictures are here: http://www.emergi-tech.qc.ca/Trailer/ Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Scott Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
It is not from a FWD Datsun. None of those came with 6-lug hubs. It may be the front axle from a Datsun 220 pickup from the late 50s & early 1960s -- which means new parts are not available. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I was wondering that too, but couldn't see any steering . Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
There might be a kingpin in there, with it welded to keep from pivoting. Hard to tell. You'd be better off replacing the axle. You aren't finding another hub if that's a 220 hub. Quote Link to comment
tdaaj
Looks like steering axle to me, maybe fisch or icehouse could confirm this? Quote Link to comment
bananahamuck
If it was made from an early Datsun , wouldn`t it be a really skinny trailer?? Early chevy 1/2 tons and some cars are 6 lug and look alot like those ..what`s the measurement backing plate to backing plate??.. They appear to be front axle welded up to me also.. it looks like chevy to me Quote Link to comment
scottauch
I have it off the trailer now. It's definitely not a welded front axle. I'll take a few masurements and some more photos tomorrow (if it stops raining...) thanks! Scott Quote Link to comment
scottauch
Apparently I don't know what I'm talking about..... It does appear to be a welded front axle. It's 49.5" from backing plate to backing plate. Here are some more photos: http://www.emergi-tech.qc.ca/Trailer/ Thanks! Scott Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
this part is ancient history Quote Link to comment
scottauch
Yes, obviously....thank you. Nonetheless, I would like to know what it came from. Scott Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
What I meant was it's too old for anyone on Ratsun to identify it, probably. It would be pre-Datsun 320 pickup -- if it is Datsun at all. Maybe a 1959 Datsun 220/221/222. Quote Link to comment
