choke artist
so I'm on my way home and all of a sudden the truck just loses power as I'm going up a large hill. it's butters and dives and can't be restarted without a whole lot of coaxing and after it is restarted it immediatly dies. I coasted back down the hill to a flat spot and let it sit for about 15 minutes and it is able to be restarted and runs for about 10 seconds before dying. My plan is to let it sit, get cold and then try to limp it home. What the heck it's going on? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Fuel filter. There's one above he screw on bottom of the fuel pump and should be one on the pass side inner fender. Low on gas??? Quote Link to comment
choke artist
Plenty of gas... Quote Link to comment

KELMO
Not sure if I remember correctly but......there is a fuel pump relay in the kick panel on the passenger side just below the dash, its black and about 2 inches by 2 inches. Seems I sold a lot of these way back when but can't remember the symptom. So if it aint the fuel filter.......maybe the relay? Totally just guessing but my 2 cents anyway Part # may be 28545-89900 Quote Link to comment
Sealik
Did you check the fuel level in the carb after it calved? Quote Link to comment
choke artist
Check the fuel level in the carb? I floored the accelerator once before I tried to restart it to reset the choke and it started once then it died shortly after Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Look at the round glass bull's eye on the front of the carb. Fuel should be level with the dot on it. I'm betting it isn't even showing. When you turn the key on can you hear the electric fuel pump? Quote Link to comment
CorAce
I agree with the others its most likely a fuel issue, but remember it needs three things to run, Fuel, air and spark be sure to check them all. Quote Link to comment
