kuro
Hmm, I've never Intro'd myself here I guess, but I'll do it now. Seems cool here. So I want to say Hi all!!! I've been working on my 78 280z since last February. Some pics of when she arrived from Florida..... Link to more pics of all the work needed: http://www.jdmgaller.../the-beginning/ Somewhat of a list of what I've done so far: Cleaned up the engine bay: before: After: Installed Stance coilovers/camber plates: Sorry almost forgot to take a picture since right after that, she went the to body shop. I can't lower much more without scraping off my exhaust since it runs under the diff, so I'll wait until have the exhaust rerouted. After many, many hours of pain in my ass, the dash is now refinished: Removed bumpers (which btw raised up the car even further, lol): Removed tar-like stuff from the interior, sanded and repainted: (forgot to take pics of the finished interior before I put the new carpet in - FAIL!) Added urethane air dam Cleaned all electrical connections (no pics lol) Quote Link to comment
kuro
Now, she's getting a makeover at the body shop: Playing around with the proposed 3 piece wing. Paint is coming off! Quote Link to comment
kuro
Still in primer, waiting to be block sanded again. Test fitting flares Test fitting a wheel that I had laying around – with a bunch of spacers! Needs more width….. 95 mm worth of spacers wasn’t enough, lol! Quote Link to comment
jalen
mmm. love it. how low do you think thee coils would go? Quote Link to comment
gokiburix
interested in how you refinished your dash Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
mmm. love it. how low do you think thee coils would go? Three stock coils? ... not a good idea. First the spring rate would go through the roof, second the strut would bottom out. Cutting a spring is not the way to lower a vehicle, but I will say that cutting perhaps one spring will add reasonable stiffness while lowering slightly, both are movement in the right direction. The problem is that people see the resultant lowering and little else and keep removing spring with no thought to how the car will ride until it's too late. If you want more than a couple of inches then the struts will need to be shortened and shorter inserts installed. Quote Link to comment

I'm pretty sure he was asking about the Stance adjustable coilovers, how low they will drop the car when fully lowered. :P Quote Link to comment

I'm BLUE
Nice car! I have (2) s30's myself ;) 95mm = aprox 3.75 inches ... ^^^ holy crap lol haha. Im not knocking you ... Make sure you have spacers made out of high-quality aluminum and not cheapy casts from china ... Those china made spacers will break if stressed enough or stacked lol Hopefully those are hubcemtric then you might have a chance. Someplaces will machine some hubcentric high quality spacers for you ... and wheel centric as well They are a bit more spendy I might be using these for mustang 17"x9" wheels Body work looks excellent :) Quote Link to comment

Yeah that's how I understood it. No worries. I don't think I have much more to go, probably max another 1.5". Hmm I have some info on how I did my dash, I just need to organize it... Here's what I got, I tried to edit it a little so it's not all crazy looking. http://www.jdmgaller...hboard-refresh/ Quote Link to comment

Body work looks excellent :) Thanks, and I was just measuring for fitment, I'm not going to run any spacers, lol. I would be afraid to drive on that. I'm looking at somewhere in the 15x11 -41 (rear) and around 15x10 -37 (front) range... gonna play with some numbers now.... Quote Link to comment

ComicArtist
Nice! Are those the BAMF flares? I know there's no way I could tuck a 15x11 -41 with the flares I have now, as much as I'd like to. Also interested about the dash. Close up pics? Quote Link to comment

I'll take some closeups when I go see my car this weekend, cool? oh and I've talked to you on hybrid-z.. love your z. Quote Link to comment
