Short answer: The one that's in it. Light, tough enough to handle 200 ft lbs of torque and geared for the car's weight to give the best compromise between performance and economy. Is there some reason why you would want a 'larger' one? If you are running a larger higher hp motor a Subaru R-160 with LSD is a nice up-grade. From a performance standpoint, changing the ratio to 4.11 or 4.375 is the biggest bang for the buck, requiring no engine mods. The R-180 from a Z car will fit but usually the ratios are worse and it's heavier. The grand daddy is the R-200 which is almost impossible to break but adds about 40 pounds to the back. Not a 'drop in' and most if not all are without LSD. The S12 turbo came with 4.11 ratio. Quote Link to comment
