Removing motor guide?

I pullthe crank case vent tube from the block (L16)and leave the exhaust manifold in the car.So I dont worry about breaking the Y pipe bolts.

It was a L20, so the tube wasn't such a big issue.

 

Can't I just put a bolt to hold the y-pipe to the exhaust manifold? It has two studs and one nut-n-bolt now. I'm gonna use my oscillating saw and a cutoff blade on the nut. It just rotates around the stud now, not ever getting hooked on a thread to come off.

so quick question, are the 510 motor mounts the same as the 521? im not talking about the ones on the block i mean the other rubbery ones?

 

im putting the motor today but it seems to be an inch off

The rubber isolators are not by part number, but they sure look close. (I would try them) The L & R engine brackets are the same 521 and 510.

well the new ones i got are about 1/2 in off.

 

2533 & 2532 is what they gave me.they seem to be too tall.

thinking about that, wasnt sure if that was safe. also it seems the down pipe off the headers wont clear the toirson bars, going to cut at the colector and let the muffle shop rerout it.

oh yeah and does the oil pan need cylicone apart from the gasket?

so i got the motor in, it wasnt lineing up because the headers were hitting the torson bars & i had to flex the mounts into place.

 

now i gotta figure out the linkage for the webber

I've been asking about a throttle cable for my dual SUs. No good responses on what car to rip one out of. I think there should be an open square bracket mounted to the throttle shaft on the Weber (assuming its a 32/36). I'd try to find a cable, to eliminate linkages, play, and failure potentials???

Found out that the stock linkage works perfectly fine. Just took off the bracket to hold the cable and the throtle arm.

I'm swapping motors in my goon would it be easier to pull the tranny and the motor? apr just the motor? The tranny will be reuse just swapping out blocks. And trying to be as fast and efficient as possible

Pull them together if you have a leveler on your lift, and you can plug the tranny from leaking.

 

Otherwise just pull the motor.

100X easier pulling both out and that way you know they will line up perfectly outside thecar

I don't have a leveler, is it a a pain lining it up inside the car?

i bought a cheap one from autozone. makes things alot easier but isnt needed
