hitachi issues

ok why did nissan make it so damn hard to get the damn hitachi off i want to replace it but i still have to smog my car so im stuck with it is there a place i can get a NEW hitachi?

NEW hitachi's are probably long gone. But i did see Remanufactured hitachi's at RockAuto.com last night. They wanted more money for them than most of paid for our Ratsun's though.

Check out F C Manufacturers/National Carburetors. Just do a google search for them and they have the cores in stock and will rebuild them and send them to you. They charge $159 plus $19 shipping and you have to send them a core back to offset a $40 corecharge. I have used them before and they are good. They have a toll free ph. # 800-634-2272. I've seen a couple new, and/or reman hitachi carbs on ebay for dirt cheap... Check out on there.

Mine was also a pain to take off until I shaved down my open end wrench on the sides and is now much less of a pain to get off . Would recommend using a cheap wrench or a well used one . Accidentally shaved down my dads wrench which was mixed in with my tools . OOPS !!!!!!

I bought a cheap chinese wrench and bent the open end over 45 degrees, works like a charm.

I took a 10mm combo wrench and cut it in half. Now it fits in there to get the bolts off.

Oh that sucks just barely made smog check year 76..my 2 cents since you want to pass smog, buy a rebuilt one since passing smog is a must. They do have 32/36 smog legal but heard that they have a hard time passing smog too. Stay with stock carb, they were made to pass emissions.
