freekwonder
Does Quickor advertise a front sump swaybar? I didn't see it on their site What did the diff come from? What mods did you do to get it in? Love the car. Quote Link to comment
FiveTenzo
how tucked is your exhaust? does it go lower or equal the rear sub-frame? 2.5 exhaust? Quote Link to comment

So i called them and spoke with Glen and told him i had a ka24de front sump engine in my 510 and he made a custom one for me. As far as the subaru differential goes, i purchased it from Dean Sherman on the dimequarterly. Its only an R160, so it bolts rite up. No mods needed. Quote Link to comment

Would you mind if we asked how much you paid for the sway bar, I know DG shows up on ebay every now and then for a bit over $200, if it's around the same price I'll just call up quickor, instead of waiting for another to show up. Ah ok, for some reason I didn't think any of the subaru stub axles matched up to ours. Thanks. Quote Link to comment

As far as the subaru diff goes, i just used my stock 510 stub axles. The 510 stub axles bolt rite up. Quote Link to comment

Booger
It's cool. If you can find any info out would definitely be appreciated. Thanks. Howdy....lol okay I spoke with Dean (the guy I bought my Subaru diff off of) and he said he purchased that subaru r160 from a guy parting out his 1987 Subaru GL 4WD. Mine only has a 3.70 gears.....I'm looking into swapping in a 4.11 gear set shortly. If you need more information on the subaru differenitals.....check link below. http://kmhafer.datsun510.com/Subaru.htm#Subaru%20Spotter's%20Guide Quote Link to comment
Booger
Instillation of Quickor Rear Sway Bar... Before I installed the r160, I checked all the seals EXCEPT the front pinion seal. Sooooo......after I finished bolting everything up, I proceeded to fill the diff up. Well, while I was filling it up, i could hear this splashing noise behind my head. Sure enough, all the gear oil was leaking onto the floor. Having said that, I had to pull the driveline off and the front part of the diff. The picture below is what I saw when I removed it...... ^^^^ NO SEAL!!!!! WTF???? Okay, now I got that fixed and out of the way,,,,,on to the sway bar You can see in the picture below that you will need to drill a hole. This is the only hole you have to drill (one hole on ea side) both holes drilled.... You can see in this picture that the rear sway bar is adjustable. The three little holes are the adjustment...Just change the location of the end link. For starters, I put my endlink on the middle hole. Tomorrow I'll try the stiffest setting (hole furthest to rear of car) end links bolted up.... Quote Link to comment
freekwonder
rear sway bar looks really good. Thanks for the link, forgot about that website. Looked at it so long ago. lol Is it hard to swap gears from a 4.11 non lsd to a the 3.70 lsd? Or is it luckily just an unbolt ring gear and bolt new one one? Nevermind found this part. "What if you find a 3.70 Subaru LSD, but want a 3.90 or 4.11 ratio? I have heard that the 3.70 Subaru units will fit inside the 510 R-160 cases, and that the 510 ring & pinions will fit inside the Subaru R-160 cases. I have not seen nor done this myself, so I cannot offer specifics, nor guarantee that this is the case. I am sure that Subaru LSD units will interchange inside all of the Subaru R-160 cases, using various Subaru R-160 ring & pinion ratios. I purchased a used Subaru 3.70 LSD unit and a used legacy 4.11 open R-160 differential and created a 4.11 LSD unit from the parts. I paid a rear-end shop $120 to drill the six 10mm holes out to 11mm so the Subaru LSD unit's bolts could be used, and to set up the newly assembled unit with the correct tolerances. You MUST use either the Nissan Motorsports LSD 10mm x 1.25 ring gear bolt set (Part # 99996-D3100, bolts cost $8 each and you'll need 8 of them), or just BE SURE to use the bolts that came with the LSD unit, not the ones from the open differential whenever you do this or your LSD innards will chew themselves to pieces. List member Gary Savage did put a Subaru LSD carrier from a 3.70 ratio differential into his 510 using the 510 differential case, the NISMO LSD bolt set and the Nissan 4.11 ring & pinion to get the 4.11 LSD he wanted, with no reported problems to date." Booger
I finally got around to working on the 510 today. It had a pretty big exhaust leak that needed attention asap. I can't stand an exhaust leak lol. Secondly, I was on a mission to get my Auto Meter Speedo http://www.summitrac...parts/ATM-4488/ to work in my 510. I've been driving it for almost a year and I've never given it the time nor the effort to make it work. For those of you out there that need some help with this, heres how; Hook up the ground, ignition source, and lighting wires correctly on the speedometer. Then, locate the signal port (mine was at the upper left....looking at the back of the speedo). After you have done all that, don't waste your time locating anything on the ECU. Instead, go under the car and locate the two wires coming out of the speed sensor. Now, SPLICE into the "HIGH" wire (mine was solid RED). I used a T crimp to do this and connected one end of a 5 foot wire and ran the other end to the signal port on the speedo. NOW, for the second wire coming out of the speed sensor on the transmission.....cut that wire and run the end coming out of the speed sensor straight to ground (per Auto Meter tech support haha). Once everything is hooked up, do the "calibration" and your done!!! If you don't run the second (low) wire to ground, your speedometer wont have enough of a signal and thus causes your speedometer to malfunction. In my case, my speedometer only worked +40mph and anything below would just drop the dial straight to ZERO!!! lol hope this helps someone. Lemme know if my instructions aren't clear. freekwonder
Nice, same gauge I'm looking at. What about the odometer? Anything to hook up for that? Quote Link to comment
Booger
Nahhh man. Once you do the calibration for the speed, it automatically "activates " the odometer some how lol. Quote Link to comment
