please help. datsy keeps turning off

hello everyone. im new to ratsun.

I know many of you solve multiple datsun/or typical car problems.

so i was wondering if you members can help me please.. !

well first of all i have a 73 datsun 620.

i just recently bought it. love the drive.

but now that i am driving it, it turns off.. i dont know why..

well i have changed a few parts.

i put:

-new mastercylinder

-new shoes (i have drums all around)

-rebuilt carburetor

-changed the fuel line

i still have to change the brake power booster cause my brakes don't work correctly. when i brake i can hear air coming out. and yes i bled all my brakes.

well i was wondering if my booster can be the problem why the truck keeps turning off. please help. this is my daily driver.

Is the engine running, but when you come to a stop sign, the engine dies? A leaking brake booster can cause that.

Welcome to Ratsun, do you have a electronic ignition or a points distributer? When it turns off, what do you have to do to start it again? What does your truck look like, photos, we want photos. :lol:

ggzilla yes the engine is running. like when im slowing down or when i being driving the engine just turns off. so it can be the brake booster

Test it without the booster. Plug the big hose at the intake manifold. Your brakes will still work, but will be hard to push the pedal. So be careful.

 

If the problem goes away, your booster or hose or something is leaking vacuum.

i had points :/ haha i will have photos up soon. i first wanna put on my fender mirrors before i post photos ahah. well when it turns off i just turn it back on like if i were to normally start it up

okay imma try that. well i drove it right now without doing anything and it did not turn off on me.

First visually inspect the hose from the intake to the booster, including the in line one way valve. The hose may be loose or have a split in it.

 

 

 

 

It is normal to hear a light hiss when applying the brake. If the internal diaphragm is ruptured it might be louder. To test pump the brakes several times to use up any vacuum stored in it. Press down on the brakes and hold. Start motor. Brake peddle should drop toward the floor slightly as vacuum builds.

sometime if ruptured the brake fluid will get sucked into the intake and youll have white smoke from the brake fluid
