Lawnmower racing project

Recommended Posts

Well Last September I heard there was a lawnmower race in Bremerton. My uncle goes every year and it's kind of a family/ neiborhood race. The week befor the race I got a lawn mower for 20 bucks at estate sale. It was a bone stock coast to coast d417fe93.jpg

What it looked like when I got it white paint

I tore it all apart, took off deck

Welded up new pulleys to make it faster

Stayed up till 4 am the night before the race getting it painted and put together

Was the fastest one at the race but on last lap belt fell off I was so far ahead I had time to put it back on the I forgot to start it off in 1st...

I started it off in 4th and all I could see was sky I hit the clutch it came back down and broke steering arm off

I was done...

This year ill be ready

Plans are bigger wheels in front and back

New paint job

Re engineer the steering it was sloppy

Widen the stance to make it less tipsy

Today I took the wheels off and cut off front wheel mounts, welding on extentions and replacing spindlemwith ones from spare golfcart ones

Also I started swapping rubber off back rims

Had to test fit new tires to make sure they fit they do but I'm still gonna rais the grille up to clear tires a bit more

And mounted the rear to check fit

Now I stripped it all back down to figure out the steering and to weld up some weakpoints

Paint job was ok for last years but I want to do a better job this time any ideas?
