latches or no latches?

i took the tailgate latches off my 1200 ute and put a gate latch on the inside. i think it looks alright but i want your opinions? should the latches stay or go?

Utes are rare, leave them on. Secondly, i have never seen(mainly 620's) another method used to hold the gate shut that i found acceptable enough to warrant their removal from the factory spot.

if u shave them, u could just put 2 latches on the inside of the bed to hold up the tailgate.

it looks like ur goin for a new look, with that nissan emblem on the tailgate.

I bought one of those Nissan emblems too, but decided it doesn't enhance the truck.

im taking the nissan emblem off soon it was on there when i got it a week ago and havent had a chance to take it off. it seems everbody likes the latches. ggzilla i like them tail gate ideas. some sort of lever on the inside would be cool. but for now its leaning towards putting the latches back on. also how do you go about shaving the bumperets?
