ggzilla
He means the L18 can rev high all day. Don't be afraid to rev it up. It'll run 5000 RPM no sweat for long periods of time. At least I think that's what he meant. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
yes High RPM motor REVER? Yeah ,Thats was my Ebonics I have a cam in my L16 and I do 60/65mph all day long and can go higher EZ with the Schneider cam I got installed 38/38. But its just noisey. Its a 521 day are best as a around town truck in my opinion. The gear ration is LOW An American V8 from the same time period got 8-12 mpg so Your still doing good Quote Link to comment

ggzilla
L20B is a 'grunter' engine. L18 is a 'revver'. Is it clear now? Quote Link to comment
jon521
the "rever" is clear, what you mean by "grunter" isnt clear to me. sorry:unsure:. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Grunter means an engine that makes plenty of power without having to rev it very high. Quote Link to comment

jon521
so to blue lake, i got 23 mpg. but i just filled up today and that tank had been all in town, and i got 13mpg :( thats with the correct air jets and main jets, and a new electric fuel pump. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Yes, in town the weight of the truck is what matters. 13mpg seems a little low, i would guess you should get 16/28 with a 521. I get 16/22 with my V6 Ford B3000 pickup. What are other 521 owners getting? Quote Link to comment
