DREWSDIME
I am trying to replace the idler arm bushing on my 510 but I can't get off the metal sleeve. I removed the old bushing already. I bought the G Machine idler arm bushing kit, it comes with a new metal sleeve and 2 bushings. How do I remove the old metal sleeve on the idler arm? Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Pics of kit? Link? Quote Link to comment
erikcarter
I put one on my goon. I just drilled a bunch of holes in the bushing and then once I got it out of the idler I used a hack saw to cut the sleave out of the old busing. Oh yeah I used a lot of triflow to lube it up. DREWSDIME
I already have the G Machine idler arm bushing. I was just trying to figure out how to get off metal sleeve. Not sure about using hacksaw Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
It looks like the kit comes with a new metal sleeve. Hack away? A pic of what you're trying to remove would help. Quote Link to comment
erikcarter
I set the bushing upright and cut down through the bushing right next to the steal tube, worked great! Quote Link to comment
DREWSDIME
Thanks for the tip about the hack saw it worked good just took a little time. When you installed your new sleeve, are you able to move it pretty easily. I put my new sleeve on and it is not tight on the idler arm. Is that how its supposed to be? Quote Link to comment
erikcarter
yeah they moved around really easy until I torqued it down, after I got it in my car it made a huge difference. Just remember to lube it before you install it because I forgot and it squeaks like crazy. Quote Link to comment
DISLEXICDIME
Broken link I did find it though. Vg30.com has the same set up for $32. Quote Link to comment
DREWSDIME
I tried to get one from them and they were out of stock. I paid the extra $20 and bought it from Z parts house on EGAY because Im impatient and want to drive my dime. Quote Link to comment
benzo
so did you drive the car yet? if so how do you like it? Quote Link to comment
DREWSDIME
I have not got a chance to install yet. I also replaced all the tie rod bushings. Luckily I have extra steering parts ( center link, tie rods, idler arm ) so I rebuilt everthing and put it all together, now I just need to pull the old shit out. I think I am going to use my adjustable control arms and tc rods that I was saving for my 2 door. Hopefully I will be able to do the wok tomorrow. I will let everyone know how it turns out.
