72nismo
What are the tokico struts you are using when running ZX Struts??? And I was told about using adjustable ones. What is the difference? I know its adjustable but what's the advantage? Any part numbers of the ones being used would be cool. Quote Link to comment

What is the difference? I know its adjustable but? ZX strut tubes on 510? shortened? You mean tokico shocks? I'm running shortened ZX struts/coilovers with tokico BZ3099's, they are the rear toyota MR-2 illumina's. For stock ZX struts I would guess you just use 280zx stuff. Tokico illumina BZ3038 for stock 280zx struts I think. Hope that helps. Quote Link to comment

Stupid_fast
Do u mine telling me how much u pay for the shocks?? $250 before tax off ajusa.com, for two BZ3099's. (those arrive tomorrow, I got a pair with the car but one of em is shot) But I didn't know there was a tokico distributor on here, hmm. banzai510(hainz)
stupfast keep that car orange. when one measures struts they go from the weld to bottom of the out side tube. 280zx cartridges usually have a stopper on the bottom that could be cut off to make it even shorter. If too short add soem steel washersa as a spacer. also be careful depending opn wheel the threaded collar or that adj spring perch the spring site on could hit a tire or rim if you have a more positive offset wheel. the more you go to zero offset on a 7in rim you mite need to roll the fenders. or find a 6in rim Quote Link to comment

72nismo
I just found out last night that I have the stock zx struts and not the shortened zx struts for the BZ3099 shocks. So now I have to decide if I go with stock or if I shortened my struts. Hmmmmm what should I do. Thanks for the info fellas!! Quote Link to comment
Stupid_fast
It depends on how low you want to go. If you want to be able to slam it on 13's, go with the mr2 ones(bz3099). Quote Link to comment

Stupid_fast
I'm rolling on 17" Volks. Well, with the current setup is it as low as you want it? If so, just go with stock ZX shocks. The only advantage I see for the shortened setup is for going very low. Quote Link to comment

Chris#51EPGraham
Adjustable struts are useful for: (1) Matching damping to the spring rate you're using. (2) Chassis performance tuning in all types of competition. (3) Stiff settings might help avoid bottoming out if car is slammed. Quote Link to comment
