HRH
Now, I'm not condoning street racing, nor am I admitting to it. However, for the hypothetical situation, lets just say just now myself and a Ford Ranger 4.0 both accelerated at the same time from the same stoplight. While scrambling through first, and then through second (slightly wet, possibly icy) finally got into third, and I was surprised the Ranger was only a half car length back. That stopped after getting closer to the end of third, but at the 2-3 shift he was only half a car length. Rather impressive, actually. And then I thought, is my 510 really that slow, the Rangers can't be that fast. So I looked for information on the web, and it surprised me to find that the 0-60 on a Ranger is 8.1 seconds. That's actually pretty damn quick for a 4x4. Sure puts the hardbody to shame. Anyway, after I disappeared around some corners, I finally arrived back home, and felt quite pleased that a ratty looking Datsun can still surprise people. ;) http://www.mpt.org/motorweek/reviews/rt2027.shtml Quote Link to comment

HRH
I can't imagine the thing was a stick, didn't see any lurching. It actually got me off the line, I was too busy trying to find traction. :) Hypothetically, of course. Quote Link to comment

DanielC
What rear axle ratio is the Ford running? I have a Aerostar with a 4.0, and it has a 3.73 rear axle. It is no "stoplight dragster", but I have embarrassed a few Hondas with it. Imagine, beaten by a minivan. With a gray haired old fart driving. Quote Link to comment
