JDMjunkies.ch
Yeah nothing big today, as i had some guys walking by and talking to me all the time so i wasn't really too sucessfull (that's the problem when you have your garage right at the mainstreet :P) 1) Started with removing a few clips from the hatch: 2) Then removed the trunk lock: 3) next i removed some rubber-stuff from the passenger side door: 4) and that window-roller thingy: 5) that's how the door looks now: 6) removed some electrical stuff (no idea what this exactly is..) from the engine: 7) and continued cleaning up the engine and that's how it looks now :) Oh and TNT-tracking just lets me know that a big Package shipped from Koto-Ku, Tokyo should arrive here on monday.. can't wait to show you what i ordered :D Quote Link to comment
Wide14u
i like all the details that you show :D Quote Link to comment
Skib
6) removed some electrical stuff (no idea what this exactly is..) from the engine: thats a 2 wire oil pressure sender. one wire goes to the pressure gauge and the other goes to the low pressure light. Quote Link to comment
JDMjunkies.ch
Thank's a lot mate :D - good to know! this thing is HUGE compared to today's oil pressure sensors :) Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
That is huge compared to other 1972 datsun senders. S30 may have used that design for some specific reason. Quote Link to comment
JDMjunkies.ch
whoohow :) After about 6 weeks of waiting the big Package from Japan finally arrived here.. this is what i found in front of my door today: The Delivery contains the big Part seen above (made by http://www.saito-rollcage.co.jp/ from the Saitama Prefecture in Japan, more on that soon :D) and two smaller Packages. One containing a beautiful Leather Shift knob with a black Z-emblem and is made by famous Kameari Engine works from Yashio City, Japan: And the Second Package containing a set of Heater valves from Garage Iwasa for my friend (and well known Honda S800 restorer) Sven: Quote Link to comment
Wide14u
that a cool looking cage Quote Link to comment
JDMjunkies.ch
After recceiving the Rollcage yesterday, i just could'nt hold back to have a look on it :) 1) Started off with unrwapping all the parts (about 30min...) 2) finally all parts unwrapped: 3) had to figure out how the parts fit together so i made a little lay-out: 4) Here you see the manufacturer. I'm really impressed of the quality japanese manufacturer make on the parts. 5) after that i had to "test-build" it with a few zipties :) 6) And of course i had to do a little "test-drive" :D Love my new Chromoly Cage :) 1 Quote Link to comment
Wide14u
thats funny the test drive and the cage looks awesome Quote Link to comment
JDMjunkies.ch
Yeah i know it's not too interesting to see a lot of posts about how i unbolt a few screws from the door. but at the end it's just those small things that need a lot of attention make the difference between a cheap-fast and a quality build. I've seen the "http://dsc.discovery.com/tv/desert-car-kings/s" tv-show now a few times and i have to say the cars look great, but at the end it's still just a cheap and fast restoration and all the small things were left untouched :) Now to the project: 1) Started off with removing the drivers side door handle (Shot from inside) Removed: 2) removed the locking mechanism: and the Inner door handle: 3) here you see the complette handle/locking/unlocking hardware removed - it's quite dirty so that might be the reason why it didn't vork wery well.. 4) Finally a completely stripped drivers side door :) 5) had some time left, so i started to remove the window handle on the co-driver's side: 6) And that rubber weather-sealing you've seen on the drivers side a few posts ago too.. that's it - hope i'll be able to post another update soon :) Quote Link to comment
JDMjunkies.ch
Here we go, had pretty fast and good progress today so i managed to completely strip down a full passenger side door in about an hour - great :) 1) started with removing that chrome weather seal-thingy: Removed: 2) removed some window-glass brackets: 3) so i was able to remove the glass and top chrome-frame: 4) Removed all the other screws, bolts, brackets and things: 5) as well as the passenger side door lock mechanism: 6) this is how the door looked at the end: 7) And because it has been a while since i showed a shot of the car, here we go: :D Tomorrow i'll head over to the big swiss "Japanese old- and youngtimer meeting" which is part of the huge http://www.oldtimermesse.ch/. so if someone is there, let me know. I'll take my camera with me and hopefully spot a few nice cars :) Quote Link to comment

JDMjunkies.ch
Had to take a few days off from my car-projects and enjoy the nice summer weather and stuff, but now im back. at least as much as possible, as im still saving money for the bodyshop to fix my chassis. Anyway, i ordered a few stickers from JNC because i think they should be on every classic Japanese car :-) Also a few small parts from japan should arrive here soon.. :) Quote Link to comment
Wide14u
that show looked like it had a good turn out some nice cars Quote Link to comment
JDMjunkies.ch
Well, time for another update. As trying to save money for the bodyshop all the time i have to keep my self motivated by buying some small stuff for the Zed - and that's what i did now: A set of great japanese Tow hooks (Manufacturer unknown) found on Yahoo! auctions Japan. actually i like the way t hey're mounetd (wasnt able to find the front-mounting-pics anymore...) more parts for my Z have been ordered and should arrive here within 1-2 weeks :) Quote Link to comment
JDMjunkies.ch
little update here: Found the missed pics from how the front tow hook will be mounted :) Quote Link to comment
JDMjunkies.ch
Whith racing activities near the local Bergrennen-Oberhallau Hilclimb race i felt like i have to work on my car today. tomorrow i'll attend the hillclimb and make some photos. Anyway - my motivation got a little lost when i hadn't really an idea what i could do at the moment so the only really useful thing i found to do was disasamble the old Exhaust :) complete: and disasambled: then i decided to give my chaotic garage a little clean-up.. Before: and after - way better :) Quote Link to comment
JDMjunkies.ch
Well i maybe was a bit over-motivated when i thought i could tear down the front suspension and steering-stuff assembly within an hour but anyway, i got something done :) Thats how the assembly looked in the beginning: Bushings are really unusable and need replacement: Removed a few scews and stuff and got the center frame thing out: Sadly somehow i got stuck then and wasn't able to contiune and ended up like this: Does anyone know how i get this damn Tierod-endling thing out from the Suspension base? Removed all t he scews so far but don't have an ideo how to get them removed..?! Quote Link to comment
skyblue
yea they are stubborn. you need one of these. It's called a crow's foot here in the U.S. or tie rod end separator tool. you wedge it in between the spindle and the joint and smack it with a hammer. hard. like this sorry pic is small. hope this helps. JDMjunkies.ch
Lots of stuff today, so i'll try to not write to much and show you more pictures istead :) 1) Got some new genuine Fan, Fanbelt and Fan clutch from MSA as the original one was missing: 2) started again to tear down that front axle, suspension assembly.. thanks to "skyblue521" Video-tip in my Ratsun Build thread (Thanks a lot mate!!) i was able to remove the tierod end links like described in the video. thanks a lot man :) That's how it all started today: first: got those tierod end links out *yay* :) then i removed the steering rod connector: Removed the front arms (or whatevere these parts are called in english) Front brakes: Lower suspension mounts: Engine mounts: "center caps" Brake skid plates (sorry for all those wrong names :D) And that's how it all looked at the end of two hours. had to clean all my tools from that much grease, but im pretty happy with today's progress.. Also just sent some big money to japan, so you can be sure i'll get some rare out-of-production parts from japan again soon - had to secure a few parts from the last in-stock :) Quote Link to comment
JDMjunkies.ch
thanks also for all others. was looking for such a tool today, but wasn't able to find one for today, so i worked with the other method and worked well :) thanks anyway for all your inputs - you rock :D Quote Link to comment
skyblue
great progress. looking good man. glad that helped. Quote Link to comment
JDMjunkies.ch
On we go with the axle-story :) First i removed those tierod-end links: then rmoved this "thing" (have now idea what it's used for.. anyone?) Next: Got the steering linkage off: Then removed the bots and that's how it looked at the end: Then started to remove the rear axles: removed the "Moustache bar" from the diff: and the front differential support bar: and finally - that's how it all looked.. still needs some work :) and this: More to come soon. i'll try to push the suspension rebuild a little now, because it seems like the body needs it's time until it get's rebuilt...
