banzai510(hainz)
change the alternator since the regualtor is in the alternator. get a volt meter and put across the battery and see what the output is and then turn on heater and see what the output is. If low its time to go. If regulateor is going ypu usually read a hight voltage and battery will slowly cook(oooz acid) Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
ok thanks.the problem that im having is the charge light is going on and off any ideas? Check belt for tightness or wear and damage. Idle may be too low. Loose wire connection or loose plastic plug on the alt. Brushes may be worn or contaminated with oil. Quote Link to comment

ggzilla
the altenator is new was put in yesteday New alternators are sometimes defective. Return it. If you had the same problems the day before yesterday, then the cause is not likely the alternator. You may have a loose wire somewhere. Quote Link to comment

I'm BLUE
alternators are sometimes defective. Return it. +1 ,,, ,,,, Re-Manufactured Alternators have a pretty high rate of failure that I have had experience with , return with receipt , grab another one , put it on , test again :D there are very few actual "new" alternators once one reads what qualify's as "New" ( it's pretty scary ! ) Did you tighten everything after installation ? :) Quote Link to comment
carl
yea everything is tight Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Why was a new one put on in the first place? If it wasn't charging and you put a new one on and it doesn't either.... maybe it's not the alt. Quote Link to comment
