Paul G.
I was hoping someone could post a picture of the inside of a 510 rear brake drum (for stock brakes.) Thanks! Quote Link to comment

Spades
hey...I have a picture of mine when I was tearing them down, its a pic in progress, but its the closest I have... Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
This is from an old manual that I've had sinse the mid '70s. It also has the front drums shown.... see what I mean. The later 510 brakes may be different but the basic layout will be similar. Be sure to get the leading and trailing shoes on the correct sides or it will brake better backing up. . Paul G.
hey...I have a picture of mine when I was tearing them down, its a pic in progress, but its the closest I have... Thanks Spades, that picture shoes me what I need to know. The drum is hub centric to the center hole and the flat area inside where is sits on the hub must be a larger diameter than 5.25 inches based on the amount of material past the wheel studs. I don't own a 510 -- I own a 411. My drums are hub centric to a 5.25 inch diameter centering ring (the OD of the axle and front hub, front and rear drums are the same.) I can't turn the front drums again next time a brake rebuild is needed. If I say any more this post will be in the wrong forum. Quote Link to comment
69dime
Isn't that picture upside down? I've been staring at it in my own manual. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
looks upside down compared to the photo. Must be early 510 v late 510 ... Quote Link to comment
hang_510
Isn't that picture upside down? its definetly rotated! [if thats the REAR] the adjuster should be @ 12:00 if the shoes are not the same, the one w/the larger surface area should be the leading shoe Quote Link to comment
