Trans length

What Datsun/Nissan RWD transmissions are the same length as a 1977 L20B 5-speed?

Got a line on a hardbody 5-speed behind a Z-24. Is this the same length as the aforementioned gearbox? Same driveshaft splines?

Will the diff, from the hardbody, bolt into my 1977 H190?

Assume you want an L bolt pattern?

'74-'77 710 4 speed

'73-'76 610 4 speed

'73-79 280z 4 speed

'73-'79 620 4 speed

'78-'79 810 Maxima 4 speed

'80 720 4 speed

'78-'79 620 5 speed

'79-'83 280zx non turbo 5 speed

'79-'84 Maxima

'80 720 5 speed

It will if a 2wd and a 4 cyl motor.

Not for an L, this is for a KA.

How much longer? I'm trying for a bolt in trans behind the KA using the stock 620 crossmember and driveshaft.

The hardbody has a Z24. I want to use the 5-speed and the diff to keep the speedo somewhat correct. It would be awesome if it all bolts together into the 620.

The Hardbody NAPS-Z trans most likely is a FS5W71C, which is longer than the B type used in the 620. I don't know positively what date they switched from the B to the C type trans. If you want a bolt-in, you need a 2WD longtail 720 NAPS-Z 5-speed to go with the KA. Problem is there are both short and long 720 transmissions out there. I know a '83-84 KC one would fit. Probably 82, 85 as well.

I have it on good authority that the truck FS5W71C first used in the '86.5 Hardbody is 33" long, making it 1 1/2" longer than the stock 620 5 speed. This is the shortest of all C type 5 speeds. For the cost have the front d/s shortened as this is an excellent, rugged 5 speed and worth having. The NAPS 5 speed is a perfect fit without modifications but a bit light for a KA.

As a follow up...

Not sure what I was on last time I looked at that truck. It was an 83 720 with a Z24.

It had a B type 5 speed. It also had a 3:54 diff, both are now taking up floor space in my garage.

Only the length. This one has a Z series bell housing on it. If you can find a junk 620, 280z/zx or 810/Maxima 5 speed you swap the front case onto it. Here's a picture of one with L bell and speedo drive.... Is it from an '80 720 originally??? It now has a car cross member on it now.

I have one from a 4x4 but no speedo in the tail stock.

I knew these existed but have never solid proof of where/what they came off of.
