How to: Shaved cowl

I was bored while I was shaving the cowl for the 720 and had Ratsun on the brain. I figured this could be useful for someone.

 

Add Beer, and repeat for the other side

Good how to ! Ive done 2 620 & 1 HB cowl the same way. If i can add just 1 detail. I like to add a generous coat of seam sealer on the underside of the filler panel followed by a few coats of primer/paint. Another thing i like to do is clamp the cowl to the bench to eliminate the chanch of warpage. It's a clean look once completed..thumbs up !

thank you PCD. the beer intermissions is how i keep the warpage to a minimum, low heat+cold beer=smooth cowl

So............ when the heater is on, where does the air come from???? The cowl drain holes???

this isn't a daily driver, why do I need a heater? Oh and Slam, come on with it. Tell the UPS guy that when he drops it off to just wait so I can send it back same day, "return to sender." this didnt take anytime at all. Send it to me if you want.

I'm shaving the windshield squirters too. I dont plan on catching any rain.

I am shaving my cowl, door handles, done shaved my bed hooks, drip rails, gas filler door, valance and a lot more stuff I am not thinking of . Oh yeah and my bed section lines .

Ha ha Well The only thing I have done so far was remove the hooks, I haven't even took the grinder to the factory welds yet . But I will snap pics tomorrow . I think we should have a shave thread .

Ha ha I thought of that after I posted it and was laying in the bed :lol: Ok with that said we should have a "SHAVED AUTO PANEL THREAD" and I think it should be a sticky <<<<<<< I guess I should watch how I use that word to :lol:

Not sure how but it still gets in... I've been running a shaved cowl for years and I still get a good flow.
