a.d._510_n_ok
I'm getting ready to order a front end rebuild kit for my '64 Fairlane. The company selling the kits has this on their website: "When ordering Polygraphite Quote Link to comment
a.d._510_n_ok
this is what NAPA says for my car's sway bar: "Product Line: NAPA Chassis Parts Comments: To Frame;5/8" Or 11/16" Sway Bar Diameter" Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Get a 1" or 7/8" one and take to someone with a 3/4" drill and 'size' it to fit. Quote Link to comment
DRIVEN
19mm = 3/4" so I would guess that 18mm is 11/16". Quote Link to comment
steve g
Get a 1" or 7/8" one and take to someone with a 3/4" drill and 'size' it to fit. Mike? if you buy a 1" bushing how do you drill it to 3/4? Quote Link to comment
bonvo
i think he means the next size smaller i would say get a better sway bar and put it in there with new bushings instead of just replacing stock stuff Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Mike? if you buy a 1" bushing how do you drill it to 3/4? ... o yeah... :o Hell you really need a 1" sway bar on that blue oval. Quote Link to comment
a.d._510_n_ok
Guys, thanks. I made a note on the order form along with the actual measurements. Mike, if anyone else would have told me to drill it "out" to 3/4 I would have thought, "Why you smart @$$ so and so!!!" but I know you well enough to know that you are a certified car junky who only dispenses good advice :). Re: upgrading to a one inch sway bar - thought about that but the Fairlane guys says that the larger, stiffer bars have been known to cause cracks in the '62-65 Fairlane lower A-arms.
