datzenmike
Looks like an early '72.5-'73 aluminum diff. Link to comment
benzo
if this can fit my wagon or at least the center section I may buy. I am in san francisco. Datzenmike I lost your info on this but can you refresh me if this can fit a wagon rear end with changing the inner gears on the axles. I am just wondering how it would be for my car as i have a 81 zx trans and long rod motor. Edited July 23, 2009 by benzo Link to comment
Jester
Your memory serves you well grasshoppa. The side gears would need to be changed for the ones in your goon. 4:37's would be KILLER if you were drag racing. :D Link to comment
Dime Dave
Yes it can be done. Here is a link to a thread on swapping side gears done by Mike Klotz. complete with a great video. link: http://forum.ratsun.net/showthread.php?t=10953 Link to comment
datzenmike
The '81 zx has a monster over drive ratio so going to 4.375 will tame that a bit and give you back some highway acceleration. Link to comment
troyt
I bought this with the plan to use the gears in my wagon, but have since changed plans. I had offers just for the gears by wagon guys, and just for the axles by truck guys, but I don't plan on disassembly. I paid $75 for it a couple months ago, so anyone willing to pick up the whole thing gets the same deal. Link to comment
datzenmike
Easy to take apart... drain, remove 4 X 17mm bolts on each side, cut brake line and yank the axels out (with drums on), remove the 12 X 12mm bolts from diff and pull it forward and out. Done this in a wrecking yard in 15 min including taking the drive shaft off. Link to comment
