Yep, I agree, this is one of the few forums that's pleasant to be on. The moderators on here actually care about what goes on here, and they also participate. Whereas on other forums the moderators just kinda sit back and only do something if someone complains. Helps a lot when they are active participants.

Noobs are like strays approaching and trying to join a herd. Generally they are accepted as long as they walk the line for a while and build up credibility. This gives the herd members a chance to get to know them. If he (or she) tries to move in too fast and comes off as aggressive, a know it all or a tool, the herd gets nervous and members will often confront them. Strangely, junior members will often step in in this regard possibly jealous of their position in the herd and having to move over for another noob. Sometimes a noob just has to take a bit of shit and grin about it. If they handle it well without blowing up and jumping the tracks they move themselves closer to non noob status. The herd relaxes and settles down and are likely to accept a bit of shit themselves. :D
