datsunfish
So dude says that dude told him his L16 block was a sss because it has M1 stamped on the block. It had a stock open port 210 head.Said something about being fully balanced. As far as I knew all L series cranks were fully counter balanced.Every one I have opened up has been obviously balanced. The reason I am wondering about it is that I have a L16 in my 521 without M1 on it but I have an old block in my yard with the M1 stamp with a good crank. If it is better than stock it could go in my other L18 block. datsunaholic
M1 blocks were just newer. I have an M2 L16, made in the LATE 70s (maybe even 80). Quote Link to comment
Figbuck
My '73 L16 has 14 210 M2 stamped on the block. What's an sss? Isn't balancing a process where the crank is machined to be highly balanced? Maybe that is what the guy meant? Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
L16 are not fully counter bal I believe the L18 and L20s are but I have to look in my book a L16 w ith a 210 head is what I cALL STOCK. hE HE SAYS MORE ITS JUST BULLSHIT Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
The M2 block I have has the late model type PCV breather and has casting marks for a NAPZ-Z, which is why I said mine is late 70s. But the M# could mean nothing. Quote Link to comment
