Nissan_Boy85
Has anyone seen it done? I've read out here that it would be a good candidate for a turbo. My question is anyone seen it done and if they have, got pics to prove it? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Haven't seen it done. Nissan did make a JDM Z18ET. Wouldn't take much to use this manifold or make one. Best if you have EFI or you will be limited by suck through/blow through carb. A 200sx EFI manifold with KA sensors and harness/ECU would be a good start. I believe the stock KA EFI is good to 6-7 lb of boost without fuel management. steve g
My buddies and i did it to an 86 kc 720 2wd, we used a turbo off of a subaru and the turbo seemed a bit small. we did not spend any time setting up timing or fuel delivery... even half assed the power gain was tremendous. i cant imagine what it would have been like if we did it right. The motor burned up after about 8 hours of fun. Quote Link to comment
ocurie
in searching for parts on ebay i came across this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-Datsun-521-intercooled-turbo-Datsun-521-intercooled-turbo_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a3Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem290308476113QQitemZ290308476113QQptZUSQ5fCarsQ5fTrucks Quote Link to comment
nis720
I looked into boosting the old Z24 but it seems the parts (manifolds) are very hard to come by. That's why I decided on the KA swap. The JGS KA Turbo manifold will bolt onto the Z24, but the port shape is abit different (still do-able). I've been running Z24 headers on my KA motor w/ no issues.
