yellowdatsun
I have my own mill, and like making parts, but for something like the bump steer spacers that are readily available, even I would just buy a set. For the money, it would be worth it to make them yourself. Quote Link to comment
mklotz70
jesusno2........moot point now, but here's an idea. If you have a 4 jaw, you can chuck it up. The only really important parts of the spacer is the top protrusion that fits into the strut and the bottom hole that accepts the ball joint. I'd turn the hole in the bottome first and face that side, then flip it over and turn the bump. The outside shape doesn't need to be pretty. You can hack it into rough shape with a bandsaw or whatever. Shape, file the outside to your liking. put the piece in the bottom of the strut or on the ball joint and use a transfer punch to locate the holes. I wouldn't do both at the same time unless you have the piece clamped so that it can't move on you. As for the make or buy question.....if you bought fresh AL for the project and the 10.9 bolts.....you'd be into it for more than half of what you could buy them for. If it were a part I could see and show off.....I'd do it myself. Something buried under the car that no one will see.....buy it :) Quote Link to comment
jesusno2
Point well taken mike although my dumbass never figured out how to center anything in a 4 jaw chuck lol! Quote Link to comment
mklotz70
If you work with a chunk that's a 1/4" bigger all the way around, you can get it close enough with a tape measure...........hhhmmm...at least for one side :) You could make a plug that fits the chuck bore and the hole you make, then when you turn it over, the hole will register on you plug. I can see in my head how I would do it....................but I bought mine too :) Quote Link to comment
slodat
I bought the ones pictured above. They are nice pieces! Quote Link to comment
jesusno2
Well hopefully they will work I'm sorta confused as isn't bumpsteer caused buy control arm and tie rod angles being different? I'm thinking these will lower my car an inch also? Quote Link to comment

mklotz70
on a torsion bar rig like the trucks...yes it would lower an inch because the weight of the rig rides on the lower control arm. On the 510, the height/weight of the rig is on the fender mounts, to the coil springs/struts. The length of the strut assembly dictates the height. Quote Link to comment
