So the red thing is the adapter plate?? That is pretty ingenious ..i like that idea alot. The front bearings in those trannys do go out ,, i just switched one outta my car for that exact reason. I'm not a tranny guy by any stretch,, but it does look like something was grinding on the lower bearing holder / place.

Ok, here's the random Littlerock Wa farm report for July 15 2014. This is the new bed we just tilled this year so it lacks the heavy steer manure so peas are going real slow. The frickin deer mowed them twice before we got fence up. :sneaky: You can reach it little buddy.. This is the older bed that has literally shit tons of manure over the years. Stuff grows better here,,,,,, there is very little that compares to green peppers that have been aged on the vine.. OMG

About your original question, i don't know. but if with adapter wouldn't the flywheel be spacered out? I would imagine just getting rid of that would be better just for the life of crank bearings. Do you still have adapter ?? Could you post pictures of it?

Yes but i don't think you could drive around at 60-65 down the freeway in normal speed-up slow-down traffic and still stop with that half ton without extreme brake fade.. The Vortec is what about 500Lbs and i would assume your running 700r4 and last time i picked one of those up it was without converter and i couldn't stand up straight for a week ,, extremely heavy ( lol ) and don't forget you will have to increase the radiator size ,,which in turn adds evebn more weight over the front wheels. It's your truck but if you want a whole fun to drive package ,, i would think about the brakes sooner than later. :)
