  1. Cool, thanks! ^see my edited post above... I have more wiring stuff to figure out.
  2. Ah forgot to mention I am running a pertronix unit +ignitor coil. As far as my research what I've been reading is that the ignitor has a resistor built in... 3.0 Ohm, so the external one is optional. If I do I can go pick one up. Maybe I have one in my parts stash. The yellow wire is ... *edit, It is in fact the yellow/green stripe for the brake sensor. I reconnected this line to the right place. I'll take a look at the whole harness again today and see if I can find anything else out. Thanks for the help! ^@ laecon, this is a goon, also!! My ign + wire is a black/white. edit, OK I just took a look at the harness again, found this cluster of wires taped together... OK, so theres a 2-wire black/red stripe(Goes to ign coil +?) , cut solid yellow(temp sender?), and a black/yellow stripe with a connector(Choke? Maybe something else?).
  3. Ah, I will change that around. I was looking for a pre-installed bolt. Thanks! I can see the E another pic I took, here.
  4. This alt does not look like it has that E terminal... I looked for it, I will look again tomorrow.
  5. ...Got these enkei's on. I have to get it out of the garage to get some better pictures! haha.
  6. Hello, I almost have my engine completely assembled, but I have a few questions. I have a wiring diagram but its not completely detailed for installing stuff without an original reference. (I bought the car with the engine out.) Firstly, is the ground wire my alternator hooked up correctly? These wires are next to the ignition coil, I know the white/red connects to coil positive, black to coil negative, and the yellow wire to the temp sender. There are two black/blue stripe wires here... what do they connect to? Those are not in my wiring diagram. What connects to the electric choke, and that connector on the carburetor(I think its called idle cutoff ??) thanks.
  7. Cool, sounds good. I will try this once I have the paint.
  8. Check it out, for anyone who wants to run this pressure meter kit autometer makes the correct adapter for the BSP block. Just got it in the mail. Just an FYI...
  9. So. Fucking. True. Hey Ratsun, I heard you liek pics. WAS, (After scraping some of the shit filler off...) NOW, Not the best job ever, but OK for my first time I think. So now just gotta cover it up to look a bit nicer. Oh man... I love this car.
  10. No, sorry he is not interested in parting out the car. The bumper is a stock 71 2dr bumper, you mean the BRE spook? FYI, NOT MY CAR. Futo Fab sells them... http://www.futofab.c...r-dams&Itemid=6
  11. Dude. :P It was sarcasm. Yeah, sounds nice but I have no idea what color was used with this... Was this orange a factory color? Also I doubt it came with body filler from the factory. Yup, I was thinking the same thing. I already masked off the area and did a decent primer job, but the light grey of the por-15 primer looks awful against the orange. I realize I forgot to get a pic last night. This is going to be a sort of rat/race/show car eventually.. I just want it to look presentable without rusting to hell. Thanks for all the suggestions.
  12. Is something like duplicolor rattle can good quality? I usually buy auto paint at auto stores. I don't shop at wal-mart.I did do some decent overlaping coats on the primer job and it looks good. Gonna definitely do the best job I can for the rattle can. Yeah, I understand that but sometimes it give an interesting ratty multi-shade look. Like lisa's dime. (in person there are like 5 shades of green, but it looks cool still) I'm probably going to end up just putting some black over it, but I still want to consider getting a close-matching orange. Dude.
  13. Hmm thanks for the reply, I guessed it would be hard to find a dull orange but I didn't realize it would be that rare. Did you find anything even close? I don't mind if its not matching, as long as it looks OK its better than light grey primer.
  14. Hey, my car is currently mostly orange but there where a couple of bad rust spots which I used por-15 paint and primer. The problem is their primer is a very light grey color which looks aweful against the orange. Do any of you have a recommendation for the best type of rattle can paint? I'm either going to do dark grey/dull black or preferably a dull/light orange similar to the color of the car. I just want it presentable and decent looking, I don't care if its not a perfect match or a little ratty. Any help/comments are appreciated as always. Thanks! Here is an example of a bad rust spot and the color of the car. I already sanded that down and covered with por-15 and primer. I don't have pictures of it uploaded yet.

nice ... drives good ! fun cars man !

      :-)

  16. So yeah, ended up going with the datsun... Oh man the way these things drive!! This is the first Datsun I've driven... @ the p/o's house Stopped around the block to get it insured... (Yeah, yeah shitty park job I know I wanted to get space in between the cars it was an empty lot.) at home. My brother likes it better than his 350z. I polished/cleaned up the front rims a bit, gonna make my bro do the rears. I cannot believe how much we both love this car!! So the bad, The windshield has a crack and the passanger mirror lens fell out. Cold air intake needs a head shield so it will stop drawing hot air from the radiator under low speeds. Good thing is the p/o said he thinks the engine was rebuild by the owner before him, 172k miles, runs very smooth and STRONG. Gearbox shifts SMOOTH clutch grips good, ect. Only rust is maybe 2 or 3 spots of VERY minor surface rust. Some parts of the paint are faded/meh but easy fix... T-tops are good, interior is OK could use some work but its all basicly clean and intact. Digital dash works great!! Anyway, I'll probably start a build thread when stuff starts getting serious.
  17. My brother just gave the cash for the guy to keep the 280zx for him!! Its a great car, mostly clean. I checked the whole car and there is only very tiny bits of surface rust here and there, no more than 5 spots that I could tell. It drove awesome! Such a wonderful feeling to drive a classic Z! We are going back tomorrow to pick it up, I'll have pics then.
  18. Going to check out a 280zx for my brother tonight...

  19. Good info... I didn't know this.
  20. Unbolt complete front strut/hub/brakes from 280zx, bolt into datsun 510, AFAIK. All mounts/bolts are same pattern. Use ZX brake lines? Shortening struts is for going maor lowar.
  21. I'll see if I can get out there in a few weekends for some better pics. I have a bad habit of only taking a few OK pictures instead of a ton and posting the good ones. @tneudy, Lemmie know, I'm not sure how much interest there is in this one as it needs a bit of restore to get it in top-shape. But some people like to drive rats...Thus, RATSUN.
  22. I played it, but never played the multiplayer. I've been playing through star wars: dark forces lately, such an awesome game.

    JCCS 2011

Registered I think I'm probably the youngest guy to bring their car to JCCS. Now I gotta scramble to get it running.
