  1. hey guys. still looking for a deal on a wheel! also need the headlight wiring for a 521. fron about half ways on the passengers fender well, to all the front lights. had a fire, and disintegrated these. also need an electric dizzy.... matchbox, remote, or even a real good deal on a petronix converted dizzy. doesnt matter to me, as long as it is complete
  2. video up soon! well, probably by the end of the night :)
  3. not sure the exact extent. i gotr dask by the time it got put out. fuel kept gripping on the fire. keeping it going. no, cab is fine. just up inj the front corner behind the headlights. where the fuel lines route through the engine bay. carb is fine. didnt have the radiator in it. havent looked at the windshield today. its at my parents house. where i work on it as they have a garage i keep all my tools and welder. so i have it there when getting worked on. engine should be fine also. its probably not as bad as it sounds, ori think it was. just seemed really bad cuz the flames were as tall as the garage. (30 ft). cuz the fuel. hopefullyy just a new fuel pump, and a complete harness. possibly some headlights and relays. just another set back with this thing., its verry annoying. this truck will be the death of me, i know it.
  4. :( truck might be fucked for good. i hate electrical fires.

  5. guys!!! i have some really good news! and some very bad news we'll start with good. this l20b i just put new timing chain, tensioners, aftermarkrt cam, springs and retainers in. i finally got the ignition figured out tonight!!! it runs! runs real good!!!! ran it for about 3 minutes tonight!!!!! bad news... the reason i only ran it 3 minutes..... i had a bad wire somewhere by the alt. well it shorted out. found a small fuel leak. whole engine compartment caught fire. all wiring paint, everything is gone. i dont know if i want to fix it or not now. but i know i have to get it going! its my baby, me, my wife, and my son all love this truck! everyone in this town loves this little thing! just upsetting as i just about had it going again! This truck never gives me a break!!!! if some one feels like donating parts. id be more than welcome to acccept them, and make damn sure they get put to work. parts i know i need. 521 wiring harness. manual fuel pump paint, lots of paint and sand paper (lol jk)
  6. hey guys. i am seriousley looking for a new welder. Our body shop has the millermatic 212 W/auto set. Which i love that feature. local napa has it for $1800. plus tank and spool my snap on dealer, has the mm 250sl. seems like a good welder. no auto set feature. but has the capabilities of tig welding. Dont know a whole lot about tig, but i want to learn. He says there tig torches do not have a frequency box? So you can only tig mild steel.... this just seems dumb. It also has the portable section, so you can use in weird areas. not needed for me though/ and is not a selling point. This runs, after instant rebate, about $2660.00 now my problem.... i got approved for the snap on. i could have it next week. As he comes every thursday, and has one in stock at his wharehouse at home. which is about 150 miles away. The miller on the other hand, i would have to pay out cash. which i do not have lol i will have this at home in my garage. i want to really start working hard on the datsun. And a good welder is holding me back.
  7. i'd look for a better muffler before wheels. i could stick my head in that can
  8. i wouldnt do this if you are new to datsuns. it would be easier and cheaper for you to put in an l20b. A good, known running motor. These motors are so easy to remove/replace. It is much harder and time consuming to replace the head alone. More expensive too. You should be able to find a good l20b for under 300 bux. A good closed chamber head, weber, and intake are going to cost about, if not more than that. Then you have to buy gaskets to install. You will more than likely drop the timing chain and pop the tensioner. While your fixing that, might as well put new chain and guides in it too. Now, when your all said and done, after struggling for 2 days, you will have more money droped into the stock motor and still have less power than swapping to a stock l20b. good luck man, and have fun with your datto!
  9. way to big for the datsun. they have way to big of a lip. i bet there 8 inch lips. i have a set of those also, they stick out a lot!!
  10. touche' mike. well explained. my exact thoughts. they are good improvement for SOME people. like me, we got a ton of snow here, and its always blowing. hence the amber lights do help a lot with vision.
  11. i didnt balance it. do not have the machining capabiities of that. hopefully it will not be too bad. we have one machinist in town, and he would not lighten it as he does stock stuff. will not install larger valves or anything. he has such a huge market with all the agriculture stuff ( mainly old tractor motors) he can pick and choose what he wants to work on. he told me to find some one else to do it. he said it would be an easy thing to do, but he would have to waste 3 hours to do it, and only make 80 or 90 bucks. where as he could be working on something much more profitable. i will let you know hopefully to morrow what i get for vibrations. i also drilled 8 large holes in the front crank pulley. this also took a decent amount of rotational weight out of the assembly. next thing will be to get a one piece aluminum drive shaft, and possibly some internal motor work. specifically the connecting rods. when i do them, i will be modifying them to accept big block chevy ARP connecting rod bolts. i have seen this once, and i think this was a very smart thing to do. and i wil also get the rotational assembly balanced. and rebuild the rest of the motor. i had plans of a ka24de swap, but this seems like fun. its so easy to work on. i actually enjoy being ably to tinker on this truck. i work on it more than i drive it. but that is fine with me. its my toy. and sometimes dayly driver.
  12. i shaved a stock l20b flywheel today. it started life out as a 21lb heifer, and is now a 14.5lb super model. lol it was super easy to do on a brake lathe. took about 2.5 hours to machine it down. and about 3 hours to install it. imho, much better than forking out over 300 bux for an aluminum wheel for just the average driver. i will still probably get a 10lb fidanza, but now that is at the bottom of my list, as this will satisfy me, and i have more priorities now. like finish my exhaust, and find a bitchen new steering wheel, and zg fender flares to cover these 15x10's :)
  13. no one will find it in the classifieds though. since no one searches. maybe you will move it to the engine thread? and delete the first 9 posts? lol and i went to the datsport page you posted me. it says leave at least 10mm on the friction, and if used on the streets daily, leave about 13mm..... well i wanted it light, but still mostly safe. i left it at 11mm. i didnt take any pics, and i already installed it!!! haha ive had this motor out 4 times this summer. so i had this fly wheel lightened in about 2.5-3 hours. And removed the motor, installed new flywheel, and had motor back in and ready to run within 3 hours :) good day id say :) i highly reccomend this to anyone who shaves there wheels. if you shave a wheel with a pressed on starter ring gear, and you shave the metal away from around it like the illustration says, please add a few good welds to it. id have to it to come off from the lack of metal around it. if anyone has anyquestions, please ask me
  14. thanks mike!! i did this today on a brake lathe! if yor careful, it turns out very good! took about 3 hours, but it looks great, and is a hell of a lot cheaper than a brang new fidanza! weighs in at 14.5 lbs now. started with 21lbs from a 240sx ka24de
  15. i am going to have to dissagree on the amber lights, cone filters, AND polly bushings. you can tell a difference with every one.
  16. not looking to empty my wallet. sorry. someone has to have one there not using
  17. that auction has ended, couldnt see pictures. please post one for me?
