  1. Well fellow Ratsun-ers it's time for me to sell my rig. I'd love to keep it as I've put a lot of time and $$$ into it but I honestly just don't use it much. It's not my daily and it's hard to find time to drive it when I have 5 other vehicles to put around in. It does come in very handy from time to time but heck I can borrow the Frontier I bought my dad when I need to haul something now. I factored in that I'm selling my little truck running and in complete shape, not a shell with a ton of parts being thrown in the 'deal'...so I 'think' my price is fair but we'll see what the market brings in. :P This is pretty much my CL ad so sorry if I repeated some info. :) - Year: 1971 - Make: Datsun - Model: 521 - Color: Primered White with Red Stripes - Title is clear (not salvaged) - Miles unknown (I've owned it for 4 years, I'm not the original owner so I have no way of knowing if it is the original owner or if it has been rebuilt, in 4+ years I have not seen a reason to rebuild it, it runs fine.) REASON FOR SELLING As much as it pains me to sell my little workhorse I have 6 cars right now and it's hard to use them all at once. It's not that I don't like it but just that I don't use it enough. I had originally bought this little hauler to do just that, haul junk/debris/material from my remodeling to the junkyard/landfill. Now that I'm all done remodeling it's time to give it up to someone that can and will appreciate it and get some great use out of it. THE GOOD - Clean Title - Current on registration until December 2008 (no back fees!) - Great running condition - Stock 4 cylinder L16 engine (unknown mileage but it's a bullet proof little engine) - Electrically everything all works - Very cheap insurance (about $80/year) - Very cheap registration fees (I paid $60 last year) - The best is you never need to worry about smog again!!! - Drives great on the open road - Idles nice (No fluctuating of any kind) - Decent overall body (minor dings/dents normal on a 38+ year old truck) - Does not leak oil - Does not leak any fluids - 15" Wheels/Tires - I have driven this little truck from San Jose to San Francisco on 101 and through city stop and go traffic to make furniture pick ups, then driven it from San Jose to Santa Cruz over twisty turns highway 17 to drop off a recliner or two, and never had any issues. THE BAD - About the only thing I can think of is that the front brakes needs slight adjusting. Those that have driven it have said it's not that bad but I just want to point it out now rather than it being brought up as a negative later. EXTRAS AND/OR UPGRADES - Dogleg Z 5 speed transmission swapped in for easy freeway cruising - Upgraded Electronic Distributor - Brand new battery - Newer Ignition Coil from a 280ZX - Weber Carb - K&N Filter (fresh recharge on it) - Seats from a 1999 Honda Civic - Cab floors sanded to remove surface rust and rubber coated - Cab redone in black carpeting - Bed and bed rails sanded to remove surface rust and added bedliner - No cancer rust anywhere!!! - Grant GT steering wheel - 15" Toyota wheels/tires (no spacers/adapters needed to run these) - Carpeted dash - Amber fog lights for that Euro look! RARE ITEMS - Rear sliding window - Rear Bumperettes (getting more rare to find, most old Datsun trucks you see have a real ugly rather large one piece diamond plate rear bumper) MAINTENANCE WITHIN 50 MILES AND/OR 1 MONTH - Tune Up (New Cap/Rotor) - Spark Plugs - Spark Plug Wires LOCATION Sunnyvale CA 94086 PRICE $2000 OK that's enough describing; here are the pictures and a few youtube videos Videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aB3DA3bwH8c http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIgv6g1_RuI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uwMRZTwkUc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mx0RBrjVLHE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iwi5kMSWAR0
  2. Holy jeez that goon ^^^ is clean! Wow, I'm impressed by how these look. Makes me want to continue my original ratsun dream...to have one of each 510 variant (2 door, 4 door, wagon, and matching truck) with a different powerplant in each! Haha. Hey btw, any of you goon owners know anyone that has a rear hatch window and possibly the gasket as well? A new Datsun friend of mine that I just met this past Friday called me up on Sunday telling me of his neighborhood's kids out playing with bb guns shot out his rear window. Now he needs one. He is internet-less so he doesn't have the online resources so I told him I'd look out for something. Any help would be appreciated. :)
  3. Man I really wanted to go, hell even Hector who is now Datsun-less since I helped him sell his V6 powered 510 called me telling me he was 'holding' my dyno spot. I wanted to go with my 521 filled to the brim with lots of Datsun goodies (i.e lots of wheels) but I was (1) way too tired from my weekend activities driving to/from LA in one day and (2) I had a lot of emails/calls from guys interested in my 521 that I just posted to reply to (sad I know but it will give me more $$ and time to spend on my dime). What did your wagon register at Clay? How's Lisa's rig coming along, is it running yet? :)
  4. You sure about that? My 1st 510 had a 3 speed B&W auto with column mounted shifter...but then again mine was a 2 door, not a goon. Did this only apply to the goon or what?
  5. Ok so I had some time today to continue tweaking my 521 today. I got tired of looking at the tired DATSUN on the tailgate. So I busted out the masking tape and xacto knife... Made the junk mail usefull... First coat... All done...what do you guys think? (I almost did it in red but went with black)
  6. Hey Kiznook, well I went ahead and contacted spreadshirt yesterday and asked what options you had. They responded today and it looks like you have 3 options. (1) You're able to return the tshirt (they'll even send you a pre-paid postage) and get a new one made. (2) Get a refund coupon for something else on spreadshirt (3) Keep it and get 50% off coupon for another spreadshirt item. Well I PM'ed you the email they sent so you can use as reference, hope this helps you out! :)
  7. Hmmm ok here is what I was thinking. I thought that I may have scanned in a lower resolution picture and used that for the shirt you ordered so that's why I needed to know your product number...if it was my mistake of putting in a low resolution design image I would totally give you a new shirt since it would have been my mistake, but looking into it here is what I found. IMAGE SIZE COMPARISON: Kiznook's Shirt Product 3325230-2959193: Front Small Logo: 483px X 639px (2.4"x3.2") Back Large Flag: 1820px x 1394px) (9.1"x7.0") My Shirt Product 3325179-2959131: (This is the shirt I showed at the beginning of my t-shirt thread btw) Front Small Flag: 611px X 468px (3.1"x2.3") Back Large Logo: 1500px X 1988px (7.5"x9.9") So as you can see they images are essentially the same size in pixel count and in size. I checked and the design tools on spreadshirt will not allow me to take a tiny low resolution design image and make it larger but I still wanted to confirm it by looking at your order/product number directly. So at least I eliminated me screwing something up. Based on looking at your pictures it definately looks like you got a bad one. The flag itself doesn't seem bad, unless the Ratsun wording looks a little like it bleeded out some but that ratsun logo looks terrible. Almost like they shifted the thing while it was being printed/screened (whatever process they use). Again as you can tell from my first pictures on the thread the Ratsun logo and flag including lettering is crisp and clean. I've already drafted an email to Spreadshirt saying what happened and what your complaint is about but I haven't sent it because I wanted to rule out my possible mistake (about the low resolution image) but now at least I can provide them with your order number and what not. I have it saved at home so I can sent it to them later this evening. I'm basically asking what they can recommend to come to a solution on this, so at least I'll hear directly from them about what they can do. I'll try to send them these images as well as the images of my initial order to show them the difference in quality. I'm not saying you shouldn't contact them because you should, I'm just trying to help out here. Thanks Kiznook, I'm trying to do whatever I can to help fix this for you. I'll get back to you if/when I hear from them ok? Infact if anyone else has taken any pictures of their shirts please post them here so we can see them. I have not heard any negative feedback from all the other orders so I assume all is well, and this this is just a random error by spreadshirt. I was and still am very happy with the results in my initial order of two of these t-shirts so I'm a little discouraged Kiznook's shirt looks like that. Hopefully it's not a trend! :) Thanks, 71DIMER
  8. Man that's super sharp looking. No way does that think look like a $800 wagon now! I'm still surprised at how nice you've gotten it to look like in a short amount of time and with low budget (ratsun style) upgrades. Keep it up...and you know my vote is for black...less visually distracting. :)
  9. Sorry to hear that...as you know they came straight from the website I have no 'hand' in making them personally so don't worry you're not offending me at all. I put close up pics of the small logo for everyone to see the quality of the print so if yours isn't the same I would seriously contact spreadshirt to see if you could get your money back or get another one. I'd contact them via email since they've been great in getting back to me that way. If you have a camera post a close up pic to show us what you mean. You're the first to say something like this so maybe you got a bum shirt? Again I ordered mine first to be sure they wouldn't look half assed just for this very reason. Hell if it was me making them I'd just send you another one.
  10. Oh yeah, well I had some problems starting her up for a while and with 69FJWAGO (Clayton), Pac Coast Datsun (Mark) and my other non-ratsun Datsun friend Hector's help, I've slowly put it back together. Clay helped figure out where all this oil spray in my engine bay was coming from so he fixed the oil pressure line, even hooked it up to the aftermarket gauge inside! Mark helped me working on the carburator when I picked him up to get his green wagon. There was some linkage was loose and whenever you pressed the gas it would come loose. So we fixed that. Next the old point/condensor distributor had some loose parts in it as well. I'd put it back together but it would come loose again. So Hector sold me a matchbox electronic distributor came over and helped me install it, did the wirign too. Only problem was that it didn't come with the pedestal plate. I took the old one and extened the slots for the screws to travel in...thank goodness for my dremel. I slapped it back together and went to fire it up and.....NOTHING. Damn battery was D-E-A-D. So after replacing it the thing fired right up. :D After letting it warm up it idled smooth! I'm very excited that it's almost done. I still need to adjust the brakes since it pulls hard to the right (passenger side) and reattach the choke cable somehow...but for now I think the 'major' workd is done. P.S. Mark...it's time to update your signature...no more PL521 :(
  11. Thanks amigo, hope you enjoy your shirts when you get them. Do me a favor (and this goes to the rest of you guys who have ordered them), take a pictures of you wearing them and post it up on this thread. I'd like to see the Ratsun shirts that have been sent out and them being out in the real world. :)
  12. I know a coworker has a deposit for one...but that's normal around here. Someone always has to have the latest and greatest. One of my buddy coworkers has the new Z06 vette, and that thing HAULS A$$ big time...holy crap, it's scary fast. So maybe I'll get to get a test drive on the GTR but I doubt it since I'm not too friendly with the guy getting the GTR. Around here you see lots of high end cars scattered throughout our parking lot..just a matter of what you want, cars or homes. Could I plunk down the money for one of these GTR and have it paid outright, sure...but I prefer and choose to save that money for a nice house near the beach instead...that's my goal. For now I'll gladly stick to my 510 and 350Z.
  13. Looking way sharp there Mark...now get your good camera and take a clear pic would you! Better yet get a tire, mounted it, then slap it on your goon!!! I'm going to start sending you my wheels for you to clean up! MMO for ya! :)
  14. I want it like this, I want it like that, I want it to glow in the dark, nag nag nag...jeez! LOL...just kidding. Ok I've added some with just the ratsun logo and ratsun flag with ratsun.net on the backs. They're about halfway so scroll to them. I've also added a few sweatshirt at the very end but they're pretty pricey so be forwarned...oh and for some reason they're charging more for the black sweatshirt, don't ask me why. Bare with me guys I'm trying to please everyone's wishes for the shirts but time and 6 cars, not to even mention while trying to organize my wedding with my fiancee (who by the way has been the one helping me with modifying the graphics provided by Kiznook [see I gave you credit] so you can thank her not me for getting this whole thing off the ground) is taking up precious time. For future reference let me know what basic colors you guys think I should stick too rather than making too many color choices. I only figured there are some owners with pretty wild color/paintjobs so they might want to try to have a shirt that's close to their car color. :)
  15. Mota: Now you know, and knowing is half the battle... Novita: Which one are you leaning toward getting?
  16. Did you end up seeing/getting her the pink one at the very end? :)
  17. For quick and dirty shots I have a Nikon S200 7.1MP. It's the camera I ALWAYS have on me since it's small and has a nice little case with magnetic flip on it. Comes in real handy. I got it for $150 brand new. For nice quality pictures I bust out the Canon Rebel Xti DSLR 10.1MP camera. It's large and you have to actually hold it to your eye (can't use the screen to set your picture up) but man what a difference in quality. It's more on the pricey side but boy will you be happy you have one of these for any special occasion where you know you want great pictures. Just don't be surprised when everyone bugs you to take their Christmas pictures.
  18. I'd take it only if the 'crap in the bed' was included Mark! This would make an excellent 7th vehicle to my fleet! :D
  19. That's not terribly bad, I wonder what others delivery times were? You should post a pic of you wearing it! :D
  20. Jester: I'll get around to adding the .net to all of them it's just that I started making them for me and I only wanted the Ratsun name on it. Keep an eye out and you'll soon see them all sporting the .net eventually. FivetenAaron: Cool, congrats and thanks. Which one did you end up getting? Guys once you order them please tell us where you live and how long it took you to get them so others will know the approx. delivery time.
  21. And my dog took to the Santa Cruz beach weather just fine.
  22. Cool beans, enjoy! Right on...make sure you take a look thru all of them, I've been adding some suggested designs as I go along. I do now. Well I made a pink one up just for your senorita ztrain...look at the very end of the site. Hope she likes it, if not the design she wants let me know and I can try to add them on as desired. :D
