He goes on to tell me that he flew search & rescue in a Hot-rodded B-17.It had all the armor removed, a gigantic fuel tank and a life boat slung underneath. They would take off at dawn and return at dusk. He said with all the armament and plating removed,it would keep up with a Superfortress.I'm going to make sure he makes it to the Collings Foundation event this April.
