datzenmike Posted February 7, 2009 Report Share Posted February 7, 2009 I think the crank pulley is different off set on the six cylinder L. The water pump pulley wouldn't match the L20B. Link to comment

datzenmike Posted February 7, 2009 Report Share Posted February 7, 2009 Any junk yard Z20/22/24 water pump will also work but get the plastic fan blades with it... the '78s wont fit it. The z series pump pushes more water too. If getting a used one, the fan blades should turn smoothly while the pulley is stopped, but should be very firm. Do not use one that is seized tight nor spins freely. Link to comment

I assume its a clutch type as its 60 dollars. 60$ is cheap than having a blown motor$$$$$$$$$$$$ I seen 2 types of fans hole spacing for the pully ,for the L20 make sure to get the correct one. How that header fit????????? I 've been slowly gathering enough parts to do a full exhaust system so I hav'nt put the header on yet. Sunday I'll do it since I have to pull my water pump. You would'nt happen to have an extra carrier bearing would ya??? Its just one thing after another, my truck burns a little oil on top end, I think my rings are fried, but thats another story for another day. nate Link to comment
