inline4
and stick permanently below the brake pedal? on a sidenote my ticking timebomb transmission doesnt want to go in reverse anymore. could it be a shot clutch/tranny? no matter anyhjow. Quote Link to comment
lynchfourtwenty
sounds like the slave cylinder to me, cheap and easy to replace.. Doit yourself.. ofcourse i could be wrong an it could be the clutch master cylinder.. which i doubt.. "could be wrong" but could also be the reason the clutch doesnt go in reverse and possibly "grinding"?? Quote Link to comment
kiznook
broken pressure plate or hydraulic issue. More likely the later, probably master or slave cyl. could be a cracked hose though look around for leaks. and YES this would cause the gear change issue. Quote Link to comment
lynchfourtwenty
pop the cap on the clutch m/c and check for fluid ;) Quote Link to comment

lynchfourtwenty
ok, so did you just pop the cap and see if its dry? im still thinkin its more along "slave cylinder" or even a hose or something like kiznook said look for fluid leakage.. or i guess worst case a bad pressure plate Quote Link to comment
inline4
it has fluid. Either way. I think i'll just push myself to shop for more KA parts. Quote Link to comment
lynchfourtwenty
Sounds reasonable, aslong as this isnt your Work vehicle.. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
Fill the MC up with fluid and blled it so no air in the line. Have somebody push on the pedal so yu can see how much the clutch arm is moving!!!!!!! Dont worry about KA stuff if you cant handle this stuff. Quote Link to comment

datsunaholic
7 times out of 10 the slave goes bad before the master IF they're the same age... more grit oil and grime down there. They should always be replaced in pairs, but few do that. Order of troubleshoting: 1) Improperly bled hydraulics 2) Failed slave 3) Failed hose (bulging) 4) Bad replacement master 5) Failure past the slave (fork, throwout, or pressure plate). All the above can cause your symptoms. You can check #5 without cost by making sure the slave is fully retracted, if it isn't, try to move the fork with a pair of vice grips. Should have near zero slop and be difficult to disengage. Quote Link to comment
